NEW YORK -- BET Networks joined President Barack Obama and the First Lady for a star-studded musical celebration at the White House. Hosted by Terrence J and Regina Hall, the concert was filled with memorable performances and appearances that prompted the President to jokingly thank BET for "...agreeing to film Barack Obama's block party" after which he turned to guest Dave Chappelle and said, "You got your block party. I've got my block party."
BET PRESENTS LOVE & HAPPINESS: AN OBAMA CELEBRATION presented by Coca-Cola and CoverGirl will premiere on BET Tuesday, November 15th at 9:00 P.M. ET/PT.
Some highlights of the night included:
Common and Yolanda Adams performing a soulful rendition of his Oscar-winning song "Glory."
Bell Biv DeVoe bringing The President and First Lady to their feet with an energizing performance of "Poison."
Janelle Monae channeling her inner James Brown with a performance of "Tightrope."
Leslie Odom Jr. performing a Hamilton-esque rap honoring President Obama.
A Philly to New York to Chicago moment with the Roots, De La Soul, Common and Jill Scott.
Usher hitting the stage with his dance moves and #1 hits backed up by The Roots.
Along with these electrifying performances Samuel L. Jackson, Angela Bassett, Bradley Cooper and Jesse Williams shared poignant and personal thoughts about President Obama and what his legacy has meant to them.
