This year mark's DJ Khaled, August Alsina, Future and Rick Ross' first-time performing at the American Music Awards. Nicki Minaj is a six-time American Music Award winner and eight-time nominee. She is the current record holder for most wins (3) in the Favorite Album - Rap/Hip-Hop category and is tied for the most wins (3) in the Favorite Artist - Rap/Hip-Hop category. 2016 will mark Minaj's fourth turn as a performer on the AMA stage. In 2011 she performed a medley of "Sweat," "Turn Me On" and "Super Bass" with David Guetta. In 2012 she took the stage solo to perform "Freedom" and returned to the stage in 2014 to perform "Bed of Lies" solo, and joined Ariana Grande and Jessie J to perform "Bang, Bang."

A major force in the music industry, mogul, executive, mega producer and recording artist, DJ Khaled, known as the "Anthem King" and commonly referred to as the "Quincy Jones of Hip Hop & R&B," has made dozens of chart -topping hit records featuring Jay Z, Kanye West, Drake, Chris Brown, Ludacris, T.I., French Montana, Future, Big Sean, Rick Ross, John Legend, Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne, among others. In 2006, he launched innovative label deals and started We The Best Music Group. His 2010 hit song "All I Do is Win" went 3x platinum, sold over three million singles, and crossed over all music genres to become a mainstream hit, solidifying him as a force to be reckoned with. That same year he also released "I'm On One"feat. Drake, Rick Ross and Lil Wayne. Khaled went on to release the hit single "No New Friends" featuring Drake, Lil Wayne and Rick Ross, which reached gold status and has sold over 500,000 singles worldwide. DJ Khaled has sold over 15 million singles in his career. Major Key is the ninth studio album by DJ Khaled. It was released on July 29, 2016 by Epic Records and We the Best Music Group and debuted at #1.

Grammy Award-nominated superstar Nicki Minaj continues to break records and impact pop culture at large. Her two-time platinum selling and critically lauded third full-length album, "The Pinkprint," arrived at the top of both the Billboard 200 and the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts, cementing her as rap's reigning queen. Minaj recently made history when she occupied the four top 10 spots on the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop airplay chart, becoming the first female artist to achieve the feat. Minaj also has the most hits on Billboard's Hot 100 chart of any female rapper in history and is number three among all female artists on the chart behind only Aretha Franklin and Taylor Swift. What's more, 12 of her entries entered the top 10, yielding yet another record for a female rapper. Minaj stands at the top of the pop vanguard. To date, the global superstar has sold over 55 million singles and 5 million albums worldwide. Minaj has also been the recipient of a bevy of awards including American Music Awards, MTV VMA's, Billboard Awards, People's Choice Awards, BET Awards, and many others. A global touring phenomenon, Minaj has sold out iconic venues worldwide including London's O2 Arena, Brooklyn's Barclays Arena and The Staples Center in Los Angeles. Outside of music, she has starred in films, including "Ice Age: Continental Drift," "The Other Woman," and "Barbershop 3," in addition to appearing as a judge on "American Idol."

Born and bred in New Orleans, R&B star August Alsina is eager to follow in the footsteps of the NOLA music legends that paved his way. After a set of personal setbacks and a series of YouTube covers that generated millions of views, Alsina signed with Def Jam Recordings in 2007. Proving to be a step in the right direction, he released his first album, "Testimony," in 2014 debuting at number 2 on the Billboard 200. The album featured hit singles "I Luv This Shit," featuring Trinidad James and "No Love", featuring Nicki Minaj. The same year, he was named "Best New Artist" at the BET Awards. His 2015 sophomore album, "This Thing Called Life" also debuted in the top 20 and featured "Hip Hop," which has become Alsina's most successful single to date.

With a lifetime of experiences behind him, and living proof that your past does not dictate your future, August is gearing up to release his third album with Def Jam Recordings due early 2017.

Future caps off yet another landmark year with his most recent single release, "Used To This." featuring Drake. In February, EVOL became his third consecutive release to bow at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 in less than a year. The project achieved an RIAA Gold certification, while spawning the platinum smash "Low Life" [feat. The Weeknd]. He followed that up with the gold single "Wicked" as he sold out dates across the country on his headliner "The Purple Reign Tour." Along the way, he appeared on "Saturday Night Live," solidifying his place as a cultural icon. He spent the summer packing arenas coast-to-coast on the "Summer Sixteen" Tour alongside Drake. These works come fresh off a vigorous two-year reign with Future releasing a slew of mixtapes including "Beast Mode", "Monster", and "56 Nights" - skyrocketing to a Billboard #1 album with the release of DS2 (Dirty Sprite 2) and adding yet another virally successful platinum project under his belt with the 2015 release of What A Time To Be Alive in collaboration with Drake. Future is signed to Freebandz/ Epic Records.

With eight #1 and #2 Soundscan original studio albums, and four Grammy Award(R) nominations under his belt since 2006, Rick Ross was a core artist on the Def Jam roster. His drawing power was established virtually overnight when his 2006 label debut, "Hustlin'" became the first mastertone ever to be certified RIAA platinum before the associated album had been released. That album was his classic debut, Port Of Miami (in tribute to his hometown), the first of four Rick Ross albums to debut at #1. His long string of signature top-charted Rap and R&B hits went on to include "The Boss" featuring T-Pain (RIAA platinum); "Here I Am" featuring Nelly and Avery Storm (RIAA gold); "Aston Martin Music" featuring Drake and Chrisette Michele (RIAA gold); "You the Boss" featuring Nicki Minaj (RIAA gold); and "The Devil Is a Lie" featuring Jay-Z (RIAA gold). Twice featured as a Rolling Stone magazine cover artist, the "hip-hop heavyweight," as the New York Times described him, was living up to his reputation as "the number one ghostwriter in the South," his stock and trade since the millennium began. Subsequent albums Trilla (2008) and Deeper Than Rap (2009) also debuted at #1 Soundscan, as did God Forgives, I Don't (2012), which included top hits "Touch'N You" featuring Usher, "So Sophisticated" featuring Meek Mill, and fan favorite "Diced Pineapples" featuring Drake and Wale. Most recently, Rick Ross aka Ricky Rozay set a high-water mark when he released three consecutive full-length studio albums in less than two years, Hood Billionaire and Mastermind in 2014, and Black Market in 2015. The latter attracted guest appearances by an elite A-list of friends, among them John Legend, Cee-Lo Green, Nas, DJ Premier, Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, Chris Brown, and Future. Rick Ross is also the founder of the successful Maybach Music Group (MMG), which has released some 20 albums since he founded the label in 2009.
