HALLMARK CHANNEL UNVEILS FOUR NEW, ORIGINAL MOVIES FOR ANNUAL "JUNE WEDDINGS" CELEBRATION
Featuring Jack Wagner, Josie Bissett, Alexa PenaVega, Maggie Lawson, Pascale Hutton, Kavan Smith and More
STUDIO CITY, CA - April 11, 2017 - Hallmark Channel sets wedding bells ringing in new, original movies every Saturday night this June, honoring marriage's iconic month with its annual "June Weddings" programming event. Highlights this year include "The Wedding March 2," a sequel reuniting the original film's stars, Jack Wagner ("When Calls the Heart," "The Bold and the Beautiful") and Josie Bissett ("The Secret Life of the American Teenager," "Melrose Place") in a fresh tale of unexpected romance. Joining them in the various festivities are fellow Hallmark favorites Alexa PenaVega (Spy Kids, "Nashville"), Jack Wagner ("When Calls the Heart," "The Bold and the Beautiful"), Josie Bissett ("The Secret Life of the American Teenager," "Melrose Place"), Maggie Lawson ("The Great Indoors," "Psych"), Pascale Hutton ("When Calls the Heart," "Sanctuary") and Kavan Smith ("When Calls the Heart," "Supernatural").
Hallmark Channel's June Weddings stunt in 2016 built on the enormous success of the inaugural programming event in 2015. In 2016, June Weddings delivered the #1 movie of the week for four consecutive weeks and boosted the network to rank as the #1 cable network in its 9-11 pm time slot. The 2016 event also posted double-digit gains in households, W25-54 and total viewers.*"Hallmark Channel is thrilled to have its own tradition with 'June Weddings,' a 'something new' to celebrate love and commitment," said Michelle Vicary, Executive Vice President, Programming and Network Publicity, Crown Media Family Networks.
"These four new original films and the stars associated with each is the caliber of glitterati that pairs well with golden rings," Vicary concluded.
Premiering Saturday nights this June on Hallmark Channel as part of the network's "June Weddings" programming event:
'DESTINATION WEDDING' - Saturday, June 3 (9 pm ET/PT)
Stars: Alexa PenaVega (Spy Kids, "Nashville")
Ellie (PenaVega) has been painstakingly planning her sister Mandy's destination wedding for the longest time. She is excited as guests begin arriving at the idyllic beach resort but is somewhat nonplussed when one of them turns out to be her ex-boyfriend Greg (Jeremy Guilbaut), who is the groom's best man. When Mandy (Andrea Brooks) and her fiancé don't show up, Ellie and Greg must lie to the guests and assure them everything is okay... when it clearly isn't. With the wedding fast approaching and Mandy's attendance a question mark, Ellie and Greg scramble to stave off disaster while simultaneously falling back in love with each other.
'BRIDAL BOOT CAMP' - Saturday, June 10 (9 pm ET/PT)
Stars: Pascale Hutton ("When Calls the Heart," "Sanctuary"), Kavan Smith ("When Calls the Heart," "Supernatural")
Fitness instructor Molly Winters (Hutton) runs the very popular Bridal Boot Camp, helping prospective brides-to-be get in shape, mind, body and soul, for their big day. But things get complicated when she meets Nick (Smith), the fiancé of one of her new "recruits," and sparks fly. As Molly's feelings for Nick grow, she finds herself trying to help someone else get ready to marry the man she is falling in love with.
'THE WEDDING MARCH 2' - Saturday, June 17 (9 pm ET/PT)
Stars: Jack Wagner ("When Calls the Heart," "The Bold and the Beautiful"), Josie Bissett ("The Secret Life of an American Teenager," "Melrose Place")
In the follow-up to last year's "The Wedding March," where former college sweethearts Olivia (Bissett) and Mick (Wagner) unexpectedly reunited, the two become partners in running a wedding resort. As they work side by side in this new venture, they learn that although their business relationship is flawed and not working there just may be romance in their future.
'MY FAVORITE WEDDING' - Saturday, June 24 (9 pm ET/PT)
Stars: Maggie Lawson ("The Great Indoors," "Psych")
Potential Northwestern fellow Tess Harper (Lawson) lasers through her best friend's wedding planning like the star doctor she hopes to soon become. In fact, Tess puzzles through any problem - provided it's not her own. When she meets divorce lawyer and groom's best friend, Michael, Tess maneuvers around him like a gurney in the emergency room until she discovers this best man has a few moves of his own.
