OXYGEN MEDIA LAUNCHES THE 20TH KILLER SEASON OF "SNAPPED" WITH "SNAPPED NOTORIOUS: SCOTT PETERSON" PREMIERING SUNDAY, MAY 7th AT 6PM ET/PT

THE TWO-PART SPECIAL INCLUDES FIRST-HAND INTERVIEWS WITH PETERSON'S EX-GIRLFRIEND, AMBER FREY, TRIAL JURORS AND THE DEFENSE TEAM

NEW YORK, NY - April 12, 2017 - Oxygen Media's critically-acclaimed true-crime franchise, "Snapped," launches its 20th season of mystery, murder and misconduct with "Snapped Notorious: Scott Peterson," a two-part special premiering Sunday, May 7th at 6PM ET/PT. The special will focus on the infamous trial which led to Scott Peterson's conviction for the murder of his wife and their unborn son and raises the controversial question: Was this an emotionally charged verdict? For a sneak peek, please visit: http://www.oxygen.com/snapped/season/videos/snapped-notorious-scott-peterson-kicks-off-snapped-season-20

"The longevity of "Snapped" is a true testament to the fascinating cases, along with the unique and immersive style of storytelling that has made it one of the most popular series in the genre," said Rod Aissa EVP of Original Programming and Development for Oxygen Media Network. "The franchise keeps raising the stakes, and what better way to kick off the new season than with one of the most notorious trials of the century."

With Peterson currently sitting behind bars on death row and having recently filed an appeal, the special will examine whether or not Peterson received a fair trial, analyze critical evidence that was never presented to the jury, bring forth a different perspective that could lead to a new trial, and review Peterson's twisted web of lies which led to the ultimate demise of his family. However, in the end, Peterson is at the court's mercy that will have to respond to his appeal by the end of the year. Through interviews from former Modesto police detective, Jon Buehler, who originally investigated the case, Laci Peterson's friend, Debbie Wolski, Juror #4, Michael Belmessieri, Juror #5, Justin Falconer, and Scott Peterson's ex-girlfriend, Amber Frey, viewers will get an intimate, full access look at the trial that galvanized our nation.

"Snapped" is one of television's longest running and successful true-crime franchises on television. With a full time shift toward crime-related programming announced earlier this year, Oxygen has become the fastest growing cable entertainment network among total viewers in total day, up +45% year over year.

"Snapped" is produced by Jupiter Entertainment with Stephen Land, Allison Wallach and Deborah Allen serving as executive producers and Sharon Martin as co-executive producer. For more information, visit www.oxygen.com and follow us on Twitter at www.twitter.com/OxygenPR.
