SAFE BEGINS FILMING
A new eight-part drama from Harlan Coben starring Michael C. Hall.
Netflix and CANAL+ Group have co-commissioned Safe, an eight-part hour drama series from bestselling writer Harlan Coben.
Safe will star Michael C. Hall and Amanda Abbington (Sherlock, Crooked House) and is written by BAFTA and Emmy Award winning writer Danny Brocklehurst (Ordinary Lies, The Driver, Shameless).
The series started shooting in the UK today and will debut in 2018.
In Safe, which is set in a picturesque gated community, Hall plays Tom, a pediatric surgeon who is raising his two teenage daughters Jenny and Carrie alone after the death of his wife. Against the odds, Tom is doing well and the girls seem to be recovering and thriving within their secure enclave until one evening, Jenny sneaks out and goes to a party. That night there is a murder, a disappearance and buried secrets come to the surface.
The series will stream globally on Netflix outside of France. STUDIOCANAL has distribution rights.
Safe is executive produced by Michael C Hall, Nicola Shindler, Harlan Coben, Danny Brocklehurst and RED's Head of Development, Richard Fee. The series is produced by RED Production Company (a STUDIOCANAL company), the multi-award winning producer behind Happy Valley and Last Tango in Halifax.
