INVESTIGATION DISCOVERY RENEWS "THE REAL STORY WITH MARIA ELENA SALINAS" FOR A SECOND SEASON
(Silver Spring, Md.) - Investigation Discovery (ID), America's leading true-crime network, today announced that its original newsmagazine THE REAL STORY WITH MARIA ELENA SALINAS has been renewed for a 10-episode second season. The series follows Univision News anchor and investigative journalist Maria Elena Salinas as she uncovers new evidence, unheard perspectives, and updates to national headline-making crimes to see what the media originally missed. Produced by Scott Sternberg Productions and Lucky 8 TV, season 2 of THE REAL STORY WITH MARIA ELENA SALINAS will premiere in 2018.
"Maria Elena's passionate investigative reporting in THE REAL STORY, which viewers see especially in cases that interest and affect America's vast Latino community, has been an important addition to ID's repertoire of original newsmagazines," said Henry Schleiff, Group President, Investigation Discovery, Destination America and American Heroes Channel. "As Maria Elena looks ahead to the next chapter in her career, we are thrilled that she'll continue to have a home in primetime on ID."
For more than 36 years as an investigative journalist, the Emmy, Peabody, and Edward R. Murrow award winner has learned many things during her prolific career. Perhaps the most important lesson is that there's always more to the story. In THE REAL STORY WITH MARIA ELENA SALINAS, archival footage and recreations complement intimate, emotional one-on-one interviews with those closest to the case - some who audiences will remember from the original reporting and others who are speaking for the first time.
