ETERNAL (NBC, New!) - Cynthia Cidre has sold a domestic take on Elif Usman Erguden's Turkish format "Olene Kadar" to the Peacock. "Set in romantic and historic South Carolina, the show focuses on a young attorney's struggle to overturn a wrongful murder conviction that unravels a family's legacy dating back to the founding days of America." Cyntax Productions' Cidre and Intrigue Entertainment's Tariq Jalil and Lucas Carter are executive producing for Universal Television and Tims Productions. (Deadline.com)
FALSE PROFITS (ABC, New!) - Kayla Alpert ("Code Black") has set up a potential drama at the Alphabet which "follows a team of down-and-out women in suburban Arizona as they fight their way to the top of the cutthroat world of a multi-level marketing cosmetics business." Jason T. Reed Productions' Jason Reed and Sabrina Wind are also executive producing for ABC Studios. (Deadline.com)
FAMOUS IN LOVE (Freeform) - Romeo Miller will recur on the show's sophomore run as hip-hop artist Pablo $$ (Money), who is "known for his suggestive and confident anthems and undeniable stage presence." (TVLine.com)
GIRLS CODE (Freeform, New!) - Writer Kim Rosenstock and director Paul Feig are set to team for a new comedy at the cable channel about "an antisocial tech CEO and an outspoken feminist non-profit warrior who must put aside their (many) issues with each other in order to mastermind a groundbreaking, all-women tech incubator." Anonymous Content's Joy Gorman Wettels and Feigco Entertainment's Jessie Henderson will also executive produce for Paramount Television. (Deadline.com)
HOUSE OF CARDS (Netflix) - The streaming service announced via Twitter production on the final season has been suspended until further notice as they "review the current situation" involving sexual assault allegations against co-star Kevin Spacey. (@netflix)
LEVEL, THE (NBC, New!) - Intrigue Entertainment has likewise set up a domestic version of the U.K. drama at the Peacock. The series depicts the life of Detective Sergeant Nancy Devlin, who is living a secret double life. Nancy's exemplary police career masks a covert attachment to shady businessman and drugs trafficker, Frank Le Saux. No writer was indicated. Tariq Jalil and Lucas Carter presumably are executive producing. (Deadline.com)
SIMONE BILES STORY, THE (Lifetime) - Kelsey Scott has been cast as Biles' (Jeanté Godlock) biological mother in the upcoming biopic. (Deadline.com)
SPACEBOUND (FOX, New!) - Emerald Fennell has sold a single-camera comedy to the network about "an alien who goes on an intergalactic coffee run and finds herself stranded on "the worst planet in the universe": Earth. A group of eccentric friends takes her in and she discovers she might actually be the most functional person in the world." Steven Cragg and Brian Bradley are supervising the half-hour as well as executive producing alongside The Jackal Group's Gail Berman and Joe Earley. (Variety.com)
SWEETBITTER (Starz) - Tom Sturridge, Caitlin FitzGerald, Paul Sparks, Evan Jonigkeit, Daniyar, Eden Epstein and Jasmine Mathews have all been cast in the Emma Purnell-led series. Sturridge will play Jake, "a recklessly beautiful bartender"; with FitzGerald as Simone, "a sommelier who is the embodiment of self-possession, beauty, and authority at the restaurant"; Sparks as Howard, "the General Manager of the restaurant and father-figure to the group who work there"; Jonigkeit as Will, "the backwaiter assigned to train Tess and becomes her first friend"; Daniyar as Sasha, "a highly proficient and hard-working Russian immigrant-turned-backwaiter"; Epstein as Ari, "an adventurous lesbian who backwaits by day and DJs by night"; and Matthews as Heather, "a server postponing law school." UNTITLED BAD BOYS SPIN-OFF PROJECT (NBC, New!) - The Peacock has landed the proposed small screen incarnation of the film franchise, which would follow Marcus Burnett's (Martin Lawrence) sister Syd Burnett (Gabrielle Union), "last seen in Miami taking down a drug cartel, now is an LAPD detective and can pursue all the pleasures Los Angeles has to offer and leave her past behind. But things will get complicated when her new partner, Nancy McKenna, learns that Syd's unapologetic lifestyle might be masking a greater personal secret." Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier are penning the hour, which has a pilot production commitment, for Sony Pictures Television. Union; 2.0 Entertainment's Doug Belgrad; Jerry Bruckheimer Television's Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman and KristieAnne Reed; and Primary Wave Entertainment's Jeff Gaspin and Jeff Morrone are also executive producing.
