ASSISTED LIVING (CBS, New!) - Nora Kirkpatrick has sold a hybrid multi-camera comedy to the Eye which "centers on a college sophomore who, after being kicked off campus, moves into a local retirement home where he and his much older roommate form an unlikely bond." CBS Television Studios is behind the project with Chris Harris as well as Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Jessica Elbaum of Gloria Sanchez Productions executive producing. (Deadline.com)
CARNIVAL ROW (Amazon) - Ariyon Bakare is the latest addition to the fantasy drama as Darius, "Inspector Philostrate's (Orlando Bloom) sole confidant and a fellow war veteran who now is locked away in a secret prison under the city for some dark reason buried in their shared past." (Deadline.com)
DUNNINGS, THE (NBC, New!) - Thomas Ian Griffith and Mary Page Keller have sold a new drama to the Peacock in which after "the matriarch passes away of a prominent Connecticut family passes away, her youngest daughter returns home to take over the dance school that her mother ran for 40 years and, in doing so, embarks on a journey to redefine the American dream." Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner of the Universal Television-based Hazy Mills Productions will executive produce with Griffith and Keller as co-executive producers. (Deadline.com)
FIRST, THE (Hulu) - Anna Jacoby-Heron has scored a role on the Sean Penn/Natascha McElhone-led Mars drama as the former's daughter. (Deadline.com)
HOUSE OF CARDS (Netflix) - The streaming service has issued a statement indicating they "will not be involved with any further production of 'House of Cards' that includes Kevin Spacey. We will continue to work with MRC during this hiatus time to evaluate our path forward as it relates to the show. We have also decided we will not be moving forward with the release of the film 'Gore,' which was in post-production, starring and produced by Kevin Spacey." Producer Media Rights Capital later added: "While we continue the ongoing investigation into the serious allegations concerning Kevin Spacey's behavior on the set of 'House of Cards,' he has been suspended, effective immediately. MRC, in partnership with Netflix, will continue to evaluate a creative path forward for the program during the hiatus." (Deadline.com)
INSATIABLE (Netflix) - Jordan Gelber and James Lastovic are both set to recur on The CW-turned-Netflix drama as Hank Thompson, "Nonnie's Dad (Kimmy Shields), a local cop who doesn't see much action in this small town"; and Christian, "who is raised by a mother in the Junior League and a preacher father; [and] naturally rebelled against his wholesome family making him an outcast and kind of popular." KRYPTON (Syfy) - Paula Malcomson and Blake Ritson are both bound for the Superman prequel series. She'll play Charys, "the matriarch of House El. Charys helps her son Seg navigate the treacherous pitfalls of Kandor City, their Kryptonian home embattled with oppression and revolt." Ritson then is set as Brainiac, "a parasitic, hyper-advanced alien android of immense intelligence, Brainiac is one of Superman's oldest and most dangerous foes." (Deadline.com)
LORD OF THE RINGS, THE (New!) - Warner Bros. Television and the estate of J.R.R. Tolkien are reportedly making the rounds to develop a TV series based on the late author's famed books with Amazon Studios among the frontrunners. No auspices were indicated. (Variety.com)
MACGYVER (CBS) - Bruce McGill, a mainstay on the original series, will drop by the reboot as Detective Greer, "a seasoned LAPD veteran who reads MacGyver his Miranda Rights for a murder. Not knowing who MacGyver really is, Detective Greer believes that he is a bomb maker who took down a warehouse, killing someone and intends to charge him with domestic terrorism." (Deadline.com)
MIDDLE, THE (ABC) - The Alphabet has commissioned two additional episodes of the show's current final season, bumping its season total to 24. (Deadline.com)
UNSPEAKABLE (Hulu, New!) - Mary McCormack is set to star in a single-camera comedy for the streaming service about "a 45-year-old woman (McCormack) who deals with life and its situations with radical honesty, raw humor, and an attitude that is hard not to fall in love with." Cynthia Mort is penning the half-hour based on Meghan Daum's book of the same name with Chelsea Handler and Working Title Television's Andrew Stearn and Liza Chasin also on board to executive produce. Director Michael Morris and McCormack will also receive producing credits. (Deadline.com)
YELLOWSTONE (Paramount) - Michaela Conlin will recur on the Kevin Costner-led drama as Sarah Nguyin, "a journalist for The New York Times who uncovers a story at Yellowstone." (Deadline.com)
