ANIMANIACS (Hulu) - Wellesley Wild has been tapped to spearhead the show's revival at the streaming service, due in 2020. (Deadline.com)
CONTENDER, THE (Epix) - The pay channel is reviving Mark Burnett's boxing-themed reality competition series, which ran on NBC, ESPN and Versus from 2005-2009. Production on a new 12-episode season is expected to be completed for a launch later this year, which will again feature 16 fighters in an elimination competition. MGM Television and Paramount Television will produce the series. (Deadline.com)
CROWN, THE (Netflix) - Paul Bettany is reportedly in talks to play Prince Philip on the show's third season. He'll succeed Matt Smith, who is being aged out as the series moves forward in time. (Deadline.com)
ENEMY WITHIN, THE (NBC, New!) - Ken Woodruff has scored a pilot order from the Peacock for a new drama which "focuses on former CIA agent Erica Wolfe, the most notorious traitor in modern history and most hated woman in America, who is brought out of a federal supermax prison by the FBI to help stop some of the most dangerous acts of espionage threatening the United States today." NBC executive-turned-producer Vernon Sanders will also executive produce for Universal TV. (Deadline.com)
HISTORY OF THEM (CBS) - Felix Solis, Lisa Vidal and Amit Shah have all been cast in the multi-camera/hybrid comedy, about how two friends, Luna (Ana Villafañe) and Adam, and how they fell in love, using the couple's social media as a guide. The CBS TV Studios/Sony Pictures TV-based project, from writer Gloria Calderon-Kellett and director Pamela Fryman, has formally been ordered to pilot by the network. Solis will portray Manny Reyes, "Luna's father who seems tough but is really a gentle sweetheart"; with Vidal as Tatiana "Tati" Reyes, "Luna's mother who looks sweet but is unapologetic, loudmouthed and opinionated"; and Shah as Vikram Johar, "a whip-smart and sarcastic doctor who basically has been adopted by the Reyes family." Marc Provissiero also executive produces. (Deadline.com)
I MOM SO HARD (CBS) - The multi-camera comedy - based on the web series starring Kristin Hensley and Jen Smedley, which follows two moms who show how their friendship gets them through being wives and mothers - has been ordered to pilot at the network. Michelle Nader co-wrote the Warner Bros. TV-based half-hour alongside said duo with Rob Thomas, Danielle Stokdyk and Dan Etheridge likewise executive producing. CBS TV Studios will also now co-produce. (Deadline.com)
ILLUSION OF JUSTICE (ABC, New!) - David Zabel is developing a small screen take on Jerome F. Buting's book, subtitled "Inside Making a Murderer and America's Broken System." Said effort will focus "on a husband and wife who balance raising their children with running a criminal defense firm specializing in underdog clients who face ostensibly insurmountable odds in the judicial system." Primary Wave Entertainment's Jeff Gaspin and Tony Sabistina will also executive produce for Sony Pictures TV with Buting and Kathy Stilling serving as consulting producers. (Deadline.com)
MIGHTY DUCKS, THE (New!) - Steven Brill and Jordan Kerner, the film franchise's original screenwriter and producer, are developing a small screen take at ABC Signature Studios. Brillstein Entertainment's George Heller and Brad Petrigala will also executive produce the project, specifics of which were not released. (THR.com)
MURDER (CBS) - Amanda Green's import of the BBC mini-series - an investigative drama which "explores crime through the unique and often-conflicting perspectives of cops and killers, witnesses and victims, friends and family" - is heading to pilot at CBS. Dan Lin and Lindsey Liberatore will also executive produce and co-executive produce, respectively for Warner Bros. TV. The project will also now be co-produced by CBS TV Studios. (Deadline.com)
RESIDENT, THE (FOX) - Zachary Lutsky, a doctor-turned-TV writer on the series, is being "investigated for sexual harassment on his two most recent series, "The Night Shift" and "Code Black."" (Deadline.com)
SNOWPIERCER (TNT) - Executive producer Josh Friedman, who penned the pilot, has bowed out of the recently ordered series due to creative differences. (Variety.com)
UNBELIEVABLE (Netflix, New!) - The streaming service has ordered an eight-part limited series which tells "the true story of Marie, a teenager who was charged with lying about having been raped, and the two female detectives who followed a twisting path to arrive at the truth." Susannah Grant, Michael Chabon and Ayelet Waldman are co-writing the project based on T. Christian Miller and Ken Armstrong's Pulitzer Prize-winning article, "An Unbelievable Story of Rape," and the "This American Life" radio episode about the same case, "Anatomy of Doubt." Timberman-Beverly Productions' Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly as well as Katie Couric Media's Katie Couric are also on board to executive produce for CBS TV Studios. (Deadline.com)
WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS (FX, New!) - Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi's 2014 mockumentary horror film - about three vampires (two played by Clement and Waititi) "who are finding that modern life has them struggling with the mundane, like paying rent, keeping up with the chore wheel, trying to get into nightclubs and overcoming flatmate conflicts" - is being turned into a comedy series by the cable channel. Kayvan Novak, Matt Berry, Natasia Demetriou and Harvey Guillen are already set to star in the project: Novak as Nandor, "the head vampire of the house"; Berry as Lazslo, "the goofiest in the house, the type of vampire who turns into a bat and flies into a wall"; Demetriou as Nadja, "the badass female vampire of the house"; and Guillen as "Nandor's assistant." Clement penned the TV take while Waititi will direct with both executive producing alongside Scott Rudin, Paul Simms, Garrett Basch and Eli Bush. (Deadline.com)
