CARLOS SALDANHA AND NETFLIX WILL UNVEIL "INVISIBLE CITIES," NEW BRAZILIAN ORIGINAL SERIES

São Paulo - June, 20th, 2018 - Netflix, the world's leading internet entertainment service, announces new Original Series Invisible Cities, created and directed by renowned Brazilian director Carlos Saldanha, two time Oscar nominee animator responsible for successes like Ice Age, Rio, and his latest Ferdinand, movies that grossed over $3.1B worldwide.

Carlos Saldanha, a native of Rio de Janeiro, has always depicted his love of Brazil and its culture in his works with vibrant portraits of its diverse landscape, natural beauty and joyful people. In the project that marks his return to shooting in this home country, the filmmaker goes deeper into Brazilian soul to explore its faith and cultural mix.

Through Invisible Cities, Saldanha will lead Netflix audiences around the globe into the stories that people tell about legends and the stories that legends say about people.

In Saldanha's Original, there is an underground world inhabited by mythical creatures evolved from a deep lineage of Brazilian folklore. Invisible Cities tells the story of one detective who finds himself caught in a murder investigation that puts him in the middle of a battle between these two worlds.

"This new project marks an important moment in our slate of Brazilian Originals as we add a new genre to the diverse content we've been working to offer to our audiences by tapping into the cultural mixture that makes Brazil such a rich and interesting source of stories with universal appeal. We are beyond excited for doing so by partnering with talented and world-class director Carlos Saldanha," says Erik Barmack, Netflix's VP of International Original Content.

"Invisible Cities is a lifelong passion project that brings me back to filming in my home country. I'm thrilled to capture a contemporary take of Brazilian folklore with the millions of people around the world connected through Netflix." says creator and director Carlos Saldanha.

With 8 hour long episodes, Invisible Cities will start production at the end of 2018.
