BETTE MIDLER, BROOKE SHIELDS, JOHN LARROQUETTE, KATIE COURIC AND PETER GALLAGHER TO GUEST STAR IN THE CBS/WARNER BROS. TELEVISION COMEDY "MURPHY BROWN"

BURBANK, Calif. (October 18, 2018) - Emmy(R), Grammy(R) and Tony(R) Award winner Bette Midler (Hello, Dolly!; Beaches; First Wives Club), Golden Globe nominee Brooke Shields (Suddenly Susan, Jane The Virgin, Law & Order SVU), Emmy(R) and Tony(R) Award winner John Larroquette (Night Court, The Librarians) Emmy(R) Award winning news anchor Katie Couric, and Screen Actors Guild Award winner Peter Gallagher (The O.C., Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) are all set to guest star in upcoming episodes of the revival of the CBS/Warner Bros. Television comedy Murphy Brown during its first season. The series airs Thursdays at 9:30/8:30c on CBS.

· Bette Midler reprises her role 20 years later as Caprice Morton, previously known as Caprice Feldman, Murphy's former secretary. Though now Caprice has a surprising new connection to Murphy, making her, if possible, even more entitled and unbearable. Midler will appear in the Thursday, November 8, episode.

· Brooke Shields will play the role of Holly Mackin Lynne, a woman who has been in a coma for years and finally wakes up. One of Corky's (Faith Ford) good friends from her beauty pageant days, Holly's ordeal was dubbed The Sleeping Beauty Case 10 years ago, but was never resolved. Shields will appear in the Thursday, November 15, episode.

· John Larroquette plays Judge Nate Campbell, a kindred spirit to Murphy Brown (Candice Bergen). Larroquette will appear in the Thursday, November 8, episode.

· Katie Couric will re-appear on Murphy Brown as herself. Last viewers saw her in 1992, she was attending Murphy's baby shower. In the Thursday, November 8, episode, Couric will be seen hosting a Lifetime Achievement event and running into her old friends, Murphy (Bergen) and Corky (Ford).

· Peter Gallagher will play the role of a conservative right-wing news anchor John Haggerty for the WOLF Network, covering an election with Avery Brown (Jake McDorman). He is also a notorious manspreader. He will appear in the Thursday, November 1, episode.

Midler's legendary award-winning career as an entertainer began in 1965 in New York and has encompassed the areas of stage, television, music and film. She was most recently seen on Broadway in Hello, Dolly!, and her iconic 1972 debut album, The Divine Miss M: Deluxe Edition, was re-issued in 2016. Midler is the founder of the New York Restoration Project, a non-profit organization devoted to bringing abandoned and neglected parks, gardens and opens spaces back to life. She currently resides in New York City.

Shields is not only an award-winning actor but is a model, best-selling author, women's advocate and now a SIRIUSXM radio host. She began her career as a young model whose face graced national magazines and more. Shields currently serves as the Homeless Ambassador for Women in Need's (WIN) multi-platform campaign The Forgotten Face of Homeless Children and currently resides in New York City.

Larroquette is a native of New Orleans and was an only child who studied music for 11 years by the time he was 17 years old. He is perhaps best known for his role in Night Court, and starred in The John Larroquette Show, in which he played the night manager of a St. Louis bus station who is trying to change his life for the better. John most recently starred in The Librarians on TNT. He and his family reside in Los Angeles.

A native of New York City, Gallagher is an award-winning film, stage and television actor. He is best known for starring as Sandy Cohen in the television drama series The O.C. and a recurring role as Deputy Chief William Dodds on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Gallagher serves on the National Advisory Council of the Alzheimer's Association and is presently co-chair of the National Board of Advisors for the Actors Fund.

Couric is an award-winning journalist, Stand Up to Cancer (SU2C) co-founder, and New York Times best-selling author. She is also founder of Katie Couric Media (KCM), which is actively involved in developing and producing a range of scripted and non-scripted projects. Couric's most recent project, "Getting There," is a six-part web series for theSkimm, which profiles well-known and highly accomplished women. She joined CBS as the first woman to solo anchor an evening newscast after a 15-year run as co-anchor of NBC's Today Show.
