4400, THE (The CW, New!) - Taylor Elmore and Craig Sweeny are spearheading a reboot of the former USA Network staple, which explored the travails of 4,400 missing people who all at once returned in a ball of light to Earth; though the returnees had not aged physically, many of them reappeared with dramatic abilities ranging from enhanced reflexes to precognition. CBS Television Studios is producing. (Deadline.com)
AFFAIR, THE (Showtime) - Claes Bang will recur on the show's final season as Sasha Mann, "described as a charismatic, A-list movie star who will play an influential role in both Helen (Maura Tierney) and Noah's (Dominic West) lives in Season 5. As Helen's love interest this year, Sasha's minimalistic lifestyle and objectivist way of thinking will influence how she lives her own life in the wake of a personal loss." (Variety.com)
AVENUE 5 (HBO) - Rebecca Front is the latest addition to Armando Iannucci's space comedy pilot. She'll play Karen Kelly, "a middle-aged American housewife, who boarded Avenue 5 using her sister's non-transferable ticket. Strong-willed, articulate, likeable. Karen finds herself becoming the voice of the passengers, enjoying her newfound power." Hugh Laurie and Suzy Nakamura also star. (Deadline.com)
DOLLY PARTON'S HEARTSTRINGS (Netflix) - Kathleen Turner, Ginnifer Goodwin and Kyle Bornheimer have been tapped for the "These Old Bones" installment of the anthology series: "In the 1940s, a determined D.C. lawyer returns to her small Smoky Mountain hometown to prove herself professionally when a mysterious old mountain woman, who locals believe to be a fortune teller, threatens a lumber company's business." Turner will play Miss Mary Shaw, aka Old Bones; with Goodwin as Genevieve; and Bornheimer as Landon. (Deadline.com)
GHOSTING (Freeform, New!) - The cable channel has greenlit a new holiday movie from director Theresa Bennett and writer Laura Donney, toplined by Aisha Dee, Kendrick Sampson and Kimiko Glenn. The project follows Jess (Dee), "who goes on the greatest first date of her life, but inadvertently "ghosts" Ben (Sampson) when she tragically dies in a car accident on the way home. Stuck on Earth, with no idea how to ascend, Jess will need the help of her best friend Kara (Glenn), the only person who can still see and hear her." Jazz Raycole also stars as Ben's level-headed sister Mae; with Missi Pyle as Kara's on-call Energy Healer Chrissy; and Lisa Gay Hamilton plays Jess's devastated mom Deb. Is or Isn't Entertainment's Lisa Kudrow and Dan Bucatinsky and Midwest Livestock Productions' Joan Rater and Tony Phelan are the executive producers. (Deadline.com)
MAGIC HOUR (Apple) - Abby Miller, Kylie Rogers, Louis Herthum, Michael Weston and Aziza Scott have all been cast in the Brooklynn Prince/Jim Sturgess-led Hilde Lysiak series. Miller will play Bridget Jensen, Hilde's mom; with Rogers as Izzy Lisko, Hilde's sister; Herthum as Frank Briggs, Sr.; Weston as Frank Briggs, Jr.; and Scott as Mackenzie "Trip" Johnson. SHARP OBJECTS (HBO) - Executive producer Jessica Rhoades has inked a first-look deal with the pay channel. The pact gives HBO first crack at the output from her recently launched Pacesetter Productions banner. (THR.com)
SORORITY GIRL WHO SAVED YOUR LIFE, THE (ABC, New!) - Wendy Mericle is developing a new drama at the Alphabet based Tracy Walder and Jessica Anya Blau's upcoming book of the same name about Walder's true story in which she "happened upon a CIA recruiter at a jobs fair and was recruited by the agency while a USC student and Delta Gamma sorority sister." ABC Studios is behind the hour with Calamity Jane's Ellen Pompeo and Laura Holstein and Timberman-Beverly Productions' Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly likewise executive producing. Walder and Blau will serve as consultants. (Deadline.com)
SWAMP THING (DC) - Henderson Wade has joined the cast of the upcoming DC Comics series as Matt Cable, "a Louisiana lawman who finds himself in dire straits when supernatural evil threatens the town he's sworn to protect." (Deadline.com)
UNDOING, THE (HBO) - Susanne Bier has signed on to direct and executive produce all six episodes of the Nicole Kidman-led limited series. (Deadline.com)
UNTIL THE WEDDING (ABC, New!) - Becky Mode is looking to import Avner Bernheimer and Anat Weizman's Israeli series, which tells "the story of how one couple's decision to get married can affect everyone in their lives." ABC Studios-based Timberman-Beverly Productions is behind the hour with said trio, Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly, Paper Plane Productions' Alon Aranya and Reshet Media's Avi Zvi serving as executive producers. UNTITLED ANISTON & WITHERSPOON PROJECT (Apple) - Bel Powley, Karen Pittman and Desean Terry have all landed roles on the Reese Witherspoon/Jennifer Aniston-led series. Powley will play Claire Conway, "a driven production assistant"; with Pittman as Mia Jordan, a producer; and Terry as Daniel Henderson, a co-anchor. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED MOYNIHAN & PRINCE PROJECT (FOX, New!) - Chris Moynihan has sold a multi-camera comedy to the network about "a couple in their 40s falling in love and blending their families, all of which is complicated by the constant presence of her eccentric billionaire ex-husband." The project, from Universal Television, is loosely based on Jonathan Prince's life. Both Moynihan and Prince will executive produce. (Deadline.com)
VERONICA MARS (Hulu) - Kirby Howell-Baptiste has scored a role on the revival series as Nicole, "who owns and operates the Neptune nightclub favored by spring breakers. When they begin dying, Veronica begins to believe the killer is selecting his victims at the club." (Deadline.com)
