LIVING TO THE LIMIT, GLAMOUR AND VIOLENCE IN THE BARCELONA OF THE 1960s. DISCOVER THE UNIVERSE OF THE NEW NETFLIX PRODUCTION, "HACHE"

Adriana Ugarte, Javier Rey and Eduardo Noriega lead the cast of the new series that will launch on the platform in 2019

Madrid, 12 November 2018. - Today Netflix has announced the start of production of Hache, its new thriller featuring Adriana Ugarte (Julieta, Palmeras en la nieve, La Señora, El tiempo entre costuras), Javier Rey (Isabel, Velvet, Fariña) and Eduardo Noriega (Perfectos Desconocidos, Abre los ojos, El Lobo, Tesis), produced by Weekend Studio.

Taking the audience back to the beginning of the 60s, the series portrays an unknown side of a Barcelona in full economic and social takeoff. In addition to filming in Barcelona, the team will also travel to Manresa, Terrassa, Tarragona and other locations in Catalonia in order to recreate that decade.

Created by Verónica Fernández (Cuéntame, El Príncipe, Velvet Colección) and directed by Jorge Torregrossa (La vida inesperada, Fariña, Velvet Colección), Hache is inspired by real events. The story follows Helena, (Adriana Ugarte) a prostitute who begins as a simple worker in the hands of Malpica (Javier Rey), the head of a mafia gang that operates in the city of Barcelona in the 1960s. Helena will go through a sinuous learning process which will take her from the most meaningless position to become the leader of that same heroin organization.

Among the group led by Malpica we find the relentless Arístides and his lawyer, Julio Senovilla, played by Marc Martínez (Morir o no, El Mundo de Chema) and Pep Ambròs (El Olivo, Félix, Matadero) respectively. On the other side is represented by the incipient narcotics brigade, made up by Inspector Alejandro Vinuesa, played by Eduardo Noriega (Perfectos Desconocidos, Abre los ojos, El Lobo, Tesis), his companion Eladio Pérez, role of Josep Julien (A tortas con la vida) and the curator Clemente Larrubia, interpreted by Álex Casanovas (Manila). Marina Salas (Tres metros sobre el cielo, El barco, Tengo ganas de ti) gives life to Silvia Velasco, secretary of the Commissioner.

With its own soul, the Albatros Club will be at the heart of the story. A local nightclub where trendy music is played, and in which foreign visitors mix with young local gentlemen, slum-dwellers with disdainful and disheveled girls. It is also the club where Malpica's team operates. In charge of the club is Celeste, played by Ingrid Rubio (Que se mueran los feos, Bajo Sospecha, Velvet). The main attraction of the Albatros is the singer Julia Bloomsbury, played by the British artist Tonia Richardson, accompanied by the pianist Ramiro Larrocha, played by Toni Zenet.

The series will be made up by 8 episodes of 50 minutes each, it will be released globally in 2019.
