BLACK LIGHTNING (The CW) - R.J. Cyler is set to recur on the current season as Todd Green, "the gangly and awkward tech genius who's passed over for a research grant. He doesn't take it well, until he gets an offer to join Tobias Whale (Marvin "Krondon" Jones III)." (Deadline.com)
DAD VS. FATHER (CBS, New!) - Kurt Braunohler has set up a multi-camera comedy at the Eye about "new parents Karl and Leanne, who move in with Karl's formerly deadbeat dad, his much younger wife, and their two 14-year-old daughters, starting an intense competition between the men to prove who is the better father." A Bird and a Bear Entertainment's Cedric the Entertainer and Eric C. Rhone will also executive produce for CBS Television Studios, home to their first look deal. (Deadline.com)
EAST WILLYB (ABC, New!) - Julia Ahumada Grob and Yamin Segal have set up a small screen take on their web series which "revolves around a truly unconventional family, dysfunctional neighbors who populate the last hold-out dive bar in gentrified Brooklyn." Kronicle Media's Korin Williams and Monique Nash are also on board to executive produce the half-hour comedy for ABC Studios. (Deadline.com)
GOOD COP, THE (Netflix) - The streaming service has canceled the Tony Danza/Josh Groban-led drama. "'The Good Cop' will not return for a second season," the network said in a statement. "We're grateful to creator Andy Breckman and his fellow producers, writers, the incredible crew and especially stars Tony Danza and Josh Groban for bringing this classic odd couple father-son story to Netflix." (Deadline.com)
MANDALORIAN, THE (Disney+) - Pedro Pascal is in final negotiations to star in the series, set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order, about a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic. (Variety.com)
RED STICK (NBC, New!) - Samantha Humphrey has sold a new drama to the Peacock about Dr. Annie Dodge, "who is summoned from New York to her hometown of Baton Rouge, LA, after the sudden death of her father, the city's beloved coroner. Now, as she's mourning the loss of her childhood hero, Annie finds herself reluctantly stepping into her father's role to solve an ongoing murder while navigating the complicated waters of Bayou politics, Southern hospitality and a simmering past romance." Author Patricia Cornwell, who created the character, will executive produce the project, which has a penalty attached, alongside Humphrey, Matt Tolmach Productions' Matt Tolmach and David Manpearl for Sony Pictures Television. (Deadline.com)
SEAL TEAM (CBS) - Antonio Jaramillo has scored a recurring role on the series as Lazo, "Doza's fierce Lieutenant, and the only person Doza trusts. A former Mexican Special Forces officer, Lazo is a highly dangerous man; he's violent but meticulous, with impeccable instincts." (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED CATALINA AGUILAR MASTRETTA PROJECT (Amazon, New!) - Writer/director Catalina Aguilar Mastretta (Everybody Loves Somebody) has scored a pilot order from Amazon Studios for "a bi-lingual romantic comedy about family - the one you choose and the one you're born into." Lorenza Izzo is attached to star as Sara, "the matriarch of her chosen family since her parents moved back to Mexico City in her late teens. She and her diverse group of friends and family attempt to master their careers and romantic entanglements while living together in Sara's Hollywood Hills compound. Now, Sara's mother, Ines, is moving back in and shedding a new light on the life Sara built for herself, pushing everyone towards a late-in-life coming of age." Also cast in the project are Georgie Flores as Alicia, Giancarlo Vidrio as Nacho, Ben O'Toole as Matt, Sarah Ramos as Anna and Patricia Bernal as Ines with Mastretta, Jax Media's Tony Hernandez and Brooke Posch executive producing and Liz Cohen producing. (Deadline.com)
WILD CARDS (Hulu, New!) - Andrew Miller is spearheading two potential series at the streaming service based on the superhero shared universe anthologies edited by George R.R. Martin and Melinda M. Snodgrass. The 27-volume series is set in an alternate history of post-World War II United States in which an alien virus "rewrites DNA and mutates survivors; those who acquire minor or crippling physical conditions are known as Jokers, and those who acquire superhuman abilities are known as Aces." Universal Cable Productions has opened a writers' room for said effort with Miller, Martin, Snodgrass and Vince Gerardis executive producing. (Deadline.com)
