|
LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

AMERICAN HORROR STORY (FX) - Franchise staple Emma Roberts and pro skier Gus Kenworthy are the first confirmed cast members of the show's ninth season. No specifics were given other than Kenworthy will be playing the boyfriend of Roberts's character. (@mrrpmurphy)
COSMOS (FOX) - The network reportedly plans to push the show's second season launch from its previously announced March 3 date "because of the ongoing investigation into sexual misconduct allegations against host Neil deGrasse Tyson." (Deadline.com)
EMPEROR OF MALIBU, THE (CBS) - Kevin Kwan and David Sangalli's multi-camera comedy - about two very different families - one from Shanghai with new money and one from the U.S. East Coast with old money - who learn to co-exist when their children get married - has received a pilot order from the Eye. Michelle Nader, Christina Lee and Danielle Stokdyk are also executive producing for Warner Bros. Television. (Deadline.com)
GRAND HOTEL (ABC) - Cassandra Scerbo has been tapped for an arc on the summer drama as Vanessa, "a professional football cheerleader vacationing at the hotel who decides to extend her stay after making a connection with one very lucky member of the staff." (Deadline.com)
LETHAL WEAPON (FOX) - Co-star Damon Wayans is reportedly open to a fourth season of the series, despite indicating he will depart the show after the current season. Executive producer Matt Miller told reporters they've "fixed his schedule and changed some storylines about to accommodate diabetic Wayans and that he seems much happier - agreeing to do two additional episodes and leaving the door open for another season." (Deadline.com)
OUR HOUSE (CBS) - Brendan O'Brien's multi-camera comedy - about a devoted mom and dad who are committed to raising their children with the love and support the mom never got as a kid, but discover how difficult that is with her insane parents and siblings back in the picture - has likewise scored a pilot order from the Eye. Nick Stoller and Conor Welch will also executive produce the project, a co-production of Sony Pictures Television and CBS Television Studios. (Deadline.com)
TALENT (FOX, New!) - The network is targeting a straight-to-series order for a small screen take on Christopher Golden and Tom Sniegoski's Boom! Studios comic book series. Graham Yost is penning the adaptation, which has a script commitment with a significant penalty attached. Neal Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Toby Jaffe, Stephen Christy and Ross Richie will also executive produce for the Sony Pictures Television-based Original Film with Golden and Sniegoski receiving co-executive producer credits. Its logline is as follows: "When Nicole Dane wakes up in a hospital, she learns she is the sole survivor of a tragic accident that claimed the lives of 148 people. As rumors around her "miraculous" survival begin to swirl, Nicole discovers she has inherited the talents of those who perished. Armed with these new abilities, she must use her second chance to bring closure to their unfinished stories and solve the mystery of the accident, all while trying to escape a past that continues to haunt her. Based on the graphic novel series, TALENT is a visceral, yet emotional, mystery about redemption and human connection."
UNICORN, THE (CBS) - Bill Martin and Mike Schiff's comedy - about a widower who is eager to move on from the worst year of his life, only to find he's utterly unprepared to raise his two daughters on his own - is also headed to pilot at the network. Peyton Reed, Aaron Kaplan, Dana Honor and Wendi Trilling also executive produce the project, which is being converted from single-camera to multi-camera, for CBS Television Studios. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED 24 PROJECT (FOX) - The network's potential revivals of the "24" franchise won't be heading to pilot this season. Howard Gordon and Jeremy Doner were spearheading a "real-time legal thriller" incarnation while Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran were behind "a prequel that traces the origin story of CTU agent Jack Bauer." Nevertheless, the network remains open to future takes with FOX chief Charlie Collier saying they have a "legacy and a responsibility to bring it back." (Deadline.com)
WOKE (Hulu) - Blake Anderson has been cast opposite Lamorne Morris in the comedy pilot, which is inspired by the life of cartoonist Keith Knight. Anderson will play Gunther, "a friend of Keef's (Morris) from college who is brimming with manic energy and zany schemes, like an energy drink that people snort. He's not the type to get hung up on details, and what he lacks in formal education, he makes up for in YouTube tutorials. Yet no matter how badly Gunther screws up, things seem to work out for him." (THR.com)
YOU (Netflix) - Adwin Brown is bound for the show's second season as Calvin: "A true West Coaster who's a mix of both meditation and stress, Calvin manages a high-end grocery store, and although he feels his life is more together than most, working at an unconventional store for some unconventional bosses tests him."
