ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT (Netflix) - Cobie Smulders and Taran Killam have been tapped to play younger Lucille and George Sr. during the second half of season five. They'll succeed Kristen Wiig and Seth Rogen, who appeared in said capacity last season. (EW.com)
ATLAS (Amazon, New!) - Carlton Cuse and Paul Scheuring are set to team for "a futuristic sci-fi Western" at the streaming service. No other specifics were given about the project. (Deadline.com)
BROKE (A.K.A. RICHES TO RAGS) (CBS) - Natasha Leggero has scored a role on the multi-camera comedy pilot, about Miguel (Jaime Camil), "an outrageously wealthy trust fund baby who is cut off by his father. He and his wife Elizabeth (Leggero) then move into the Reseda condo of her estranged sister Jackie (Pauley Perrette)." (Deadline.com)
CARTEL TRILOGY SERIES (FX, New!) - Don Winslow's book trilogy, which "spans a 45 year period and follows a DEA agent named Art Keller through America's long running war on drugs," is being developed as a TV series by the cable channel. Shane Salerno will co-write the project with the ultimate showrunner and executive produce alongside Winslow and Ridley Scott (who was attached to direct its feature incarnation in 2015) for The Story Factory. COUNCIL OF DADS (NBC) - Michael O'Neill, Steven Silver, Emjay Anthony and Thalia Tran have all signed onto the drama pilot, inspired by Bruce Feiler's book of the same name. O'Neill will play Larry Malvern, "a calming presence who is used to being in charge"; with Silver as Evan, "a smart, caring young man with a great sense of humor who has been taking care of his sick mother"; Anthony as Theo Perry, "Scott's son who thinks the world is against him and that he can't do anything"; and Tran as Charlotte Perry, "Robin and Scott's daughter." DEPUTY (FOX) - Yara Martinez and Brian Van Holt have both snagged roles on the Stephen Dorff-led drama pilot. He's set as Cade Walker: "A former Marine who served in Afghanistan and is eight years sober, Cade works MAJORS - "the Delta Force of the LASD." He's tough, with a highly developed gallows humor." Martinez then will play "Hollister's wife, Dr. Paula Reyes, a trauma surgeon. Strong-willed yet sensitive, she's a good match for her husband." Her casting is in first position to her duties on Amazon's "The Tick." (Deadline.com)
HARLOTS (Hulu) - Alfie Allen and Ash Hunter are both bound for the show's third season, due to launch on Wednesday, July 10. Allen will play Isaac Pincher, "an ambitious and unpredictable Seven-Year-War veteran who has returned to London and co-established a tavern, that is a front for their sex-work business." Hunter then will play Hal, "his quieter and more cautious brother that co-owns the business, will enter into a relationship with the fiery sex worker Emily Lacey (Holli Dempsey) over the course of the season." HEART OF LIFE (ABC) - Dave Annable, Katie Findlay and Harry Shum, Jr. are the first to board the drama pilot, about two sets of adult siblings from wildly different worlds who discover they're related and must reassess everything they thought they knew about their shared father. Annable will play Wesley "Wes" Reid, "the brother in one of the two sets of adult siblings." Shum and Findlay then will play the other siblings Brendan and Sydney Winter. (Deadline.com)
HOMECOMING (Amazon) - Sam Esmail has opted against directing the show's second season. He will however remain an executive producer, as will star Julia Roberts, who likewise is not returning in front of the camera. (Variety.com)
INSATIABLE (Netflix) - Vincent Rodriguez III is set to recur on the show's second season in a yet-to-be-revealed role. (Deadline.com)
OUR HOUSE (CBS) - Malcolm Barrett is the first to be cast in the multi-camera comedy pilot, about parents Shawn (Barrett) and Bridget, who are committed to raising their children with the love and support the she never got as a kid but discover how difficult that is with her insane parents and siblings back in the picture. Additionally, James Burrows has signed on to direct the project, which will now be co-produced by CBS Television Studios and Sony Pictures Television. (Deadline.com)
PASTORIZED (ABC) - Kelly Jenrette is set to star opposite Leslie Odom, Jr. in the multi-camera comedy pilot, about Omari (Odom Jr.) and Hope (Jenrette), who together run a modern ministry and share an even more eclectic and chaotic home life with a combined four children. Additionally, Fred Savage has signed on to direct. (Deadline.com)
PRODIGAL SON (FOX) - Bellamy Young is set to star opposite Michael Sheen in the drama pilot, about Malcolm Bright, who has a gift. He knows how killers think, how their minds work. Why? His father was one of the worst -- a notorious serial killer called "The Surgeon." That's why Bright is the best criminal psychologist around; murder is the family business. He will use his twisted genius to help the NYPD solve crimes and stop killers, all while dealing with a manipulative mother, annoyingly normal sister, a homicidal father still looking to bond with his prodigal son, and his own constantly evolving neuroses. She's set as the mother, Jessica Whitly. (Deadline.com)
REPUBLIC OF SARAH, THE (CBS) - Kirsten Nelson and James Lesure have both joined the Sarah Drew-led drama pilot as Francine, Morrisville's sheriff; and Tim, "an aloof banker who splits his time between Wall Street and a rustic getaway in New Hampshire," respectively. (Deadline.com)
RICHARD LOVELY (FOX) - Thomas Lennon has booked the title role on the single-camera comedy pilot, about the disgruntled author of the best-selling children's book series, Mr. Mouse. He doesn't hate children, but rather just everything about them. After a publicity fiasco involving an unexpectedly savvy 9-year-old kid, Mr. Mouse appears in Richard's real life as he is forced into an unlikely father/son relationship that will change his life forever. (Variety.com)
SUNNYSIDE (A.K.A. UNTITLED MURRAY & PENN PROJECT) (NBC) - The Kal Penn-led comedy pilot has cast Kiran Deol as Mallory; Moses Storm as Brady; Diana Maria Riva as Griselda; Samba Schutte as Hakim; Poppy Liu as Mei Lin; Joel Kim Booster as Jin Hao; and Tudor Petrut as Drzen. The single-camera project "centers on former New York City Councilman Garrett Shah (Penn), who finds his calling when faced with seven recent immigrants - five of them played by immigrant actors - in need of his help and in search of the American Dream." TOM CLANCY'S JACK RYAN (Amazon) - Carlton Cuse is stepping down as day-to-day showrunner for the show's recently ordered third season. The search is underway for a replacement. Cuse however will remain as an executive producer. (Deadline.com)
UNDER THE BRIDGE (CBS) - Jennifer Morrison has been tapped to star in the drama pilot, about surgeon Caitlin Lanchaster: "When a scandal rocks the medical practice she runs with her husband and their friends, Caitlin rises to the occasion and takes the lead in trying to mend both the practice and her marriage." UNTITLED NANCY DREW PROJECT (The CW) - Maddison Jaizani and Alex Saxon are both bound for the Kennedy McMann/Tunji Kasim-led drama pilot. She'll play Bess, "a refined young woman whose wealthy background sets her apart from Nancy - but when they both become suspects in the same murder, Bess proves to be a spirited ally in the search for the real killer, all the while doing whatever it takes to keep her own dark secrets hidden." Saxon then is Ace, "a charming dishwasher with a philosophical bent; his provocative insights on the murder investigation will lead Nancy to conclude that there's much more to this supposed burnout than meets the eye." US PROJECT, THE (CBS) - Sisters Laura Marano and Vanessa Marano are both bound for the comedy pilot, billed as a story told through interviews and vignettes spanning 10 years, about how an unlikely couple becomes an unlikely family. Vanessa Marano will play Nell, "the older daughter of Kevin and Holly (TBD), Nell is a teenager and the leader of the two daughters." Laura Marano then will portray Jen, "Kevin and Holly's younger daughter who idolizes her sister Nell so much that she pretends they're twins." (Deadline.com)
WHY WOMEN KILL (CBSAA) - Alexandra Daddario is the latest bound for Marc Cherry's upcoming drama. She'll play Jade: "Seen in 2018. Stunningly beautiful, also sweet, she is Taylor's lesbian lover, extremely grateful to Taylor and Eli (Reid Scott) for letting her stay with them after being stalked by a dangerous ex. A neat freak who cleans compulsively, she impresses Eli who is thrilled to have his slacks and shirts ironed and the house kept in immaculate order. But neither Taylor nor Eli suspect that Jade may be a little crazy." (Deadline.com)
WRIGHT (ABC) - Indira Varma is set to star opposite Nicholas Pinnock in the drama pilot, about Aaron (Pinnock), "a prisoner who becomes a lawyer, litigating cases for other inmates while fighting to overturn his own life sentence for a crime he didn't commit. His quest for freedom is driven by his desperate desire to get back to the family he loves and reclaim the life that was stolen from him. The show also will, through the window of his ferocious struggle and his complicated relationship with a progressive female prison warden, Kate (Varma), examine the flaws and challenges in our penal and legal systems." (Deadline.com)
