ACTION SCENE (Quibi, New!) - Kevin Hart is the latest to land a series at the short-form video service, which is based on the opening scene of his 2016 concert film "Kevin Hart: What Now?" The project "will feature Hart playing a fictionalized version of himself on a quest to land the action-movie role of a lifetime." Kevin Hart, Jeff Clanagan and Dave Becky are the executive producers for Laugh Out Loud. (Deadline.com)
BLACK-ISH (ABC) - Courtney Lilly has been named the new showrunner of the veteran comedy. He'll take over from Kenny Smith and Jonathan Groff, who will remain as consulting producers, as they focus on development. (Deadline.com)
CIRCE (HBO Max, New!) - Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver have scored an eight-episode order from the upcoming streaming service for a small screen take on Madeline Miller's novel, billed as "a modern take on the world of Greek mythology told from the powerful feminist perspective of the goddess Circe, who transforms from an awkward nymph to a formidable witch, able to challenge gods, titans and monsters alike." Chernin Entertainment and Endeavor Content will co-produce. (Deadline.com)
EXPANDING UNIVERSE OF ASHLEY GARCIA, THE (Netflix) - Jody Margolin Hahn has been tapped to helm the comedy's debut installment as well as additional episodes. (Deadline.com)
FALSE FLAG (Apple TV+, New!) - A domestic take on Amit Cohen and Maria Feldman's Israeli thriller - which "tells the story of five people, who wake up one morning to find themselves implicated in a ruthless kidnapping operation following the disappearance of the Iranian Defence Minister" - is being developed by the company. Peter Traugott and Rachel Kaplan will executive produce for Keshet Studios. No writing auspices were given. (Deadline.com)
FAST COLOR (Amazon, New!) - Julia Hart and Jordan Horowitz's 2018 sci-fi film is being developed as a TV series by the duo for the streaming service with the former returning to direct the pilot. The project will follow Ruth, "a former drug addict and runaway, who returns home and rediscovers the special powers she thought she lost, powers that her family have long kept hidden from the public." LD Entertainment's Mickey Liddell and Pete Shilaimon and JuVee Productions' Viola Davis, Julius Tennon and Andrew Wang will also executive produce for Amazon Studios alongside Original Headquarters' Hart and Horowitz. LAW & ORDER: SVU (NBC) - Ariel Winter will drop by the new season in an episode which will "explore the newest techniques and methods used to help victims disclose their trauma and recall key details for the investigating police." Additionally, Lisa Takeuchi Cullen has signed an overall deal with Universal Television. The pact calls her for to develop new series projects for the studio as well as serve as a consulting producer on the show's 21st season. (Deadline.com, EOnline.com)
LITTLE FIRES EVERYWHERE (Hulu) - Jaime Ray Newman will recur on the Celeste Ng adaptation as Elizabeth, "a gynecologist who works for Planned Parenthood, was born and raised in Shaker Heights, Ohio, and attended East Shaker High School with Elena (Reese Witherspoon) and Linda (Rosemarie Dewitt). But unlike Elena and Linda, Elizabeth chose not to have children, and her differing views on motherhood and what it means to be a woman causes strife between the former friends." (Deadline.com)
