|
LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:
Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!
BORDERLINE (ABC, New!) - Chris Encell has set up a single-camera comedy at the Alphabet in which "after goody two-shoes Steve falls for reckless Maria, their whirlwind romance is cut short when she gets deported. Now they must decide whether to bail on the potential love of their lives or take a leap of faith and get married. Can two completely different people who barely know each other live happily ever after? Absolutely not, but they're going to try." Danny Chun is also on board to executive produce for ABC Signature. (Deadline.com)
BOSSY (ABC) - Tisha Campbell and Hayley Magnus have both booked roles on the Lucy Liu-led comedy pilot, about Devin (Liu), a diva boss with no patience for working parents who adopts a baby and has a change of heart, casting her mother-of-three assistant, Annie (Campbell), as an unlikely mentor and upending the office dynamics. Annie is further detailed as follows: "Happily married and the mother of two children, she's tough at home but hasn't figured out how to bring that fierceness into the office. Just as she decides she's had enough with Devin's demands and prepares to quit, Devin adopts a baby and begs her to stay and share her parenting expertise. In exchange, Devin will mentor Annie professionally. Annie accepts the offer and the dynamic of their relationship dramatically shifts." Magnus then will portray Missy: "Quirky and affable, Missy works at Shelter Design. A bit of an oddball, she often says things that are a little off, but she means no harm - she's just not great at reading the room." (Deadline.com)
LOVE, VICTOR (Hulu) - Betsy Brandt is slated to recur on the show's sophomore run as Dawn, "Felix's (Anthony Turpel) loving mother who struggles with mental health issues." (Deadline.com)
NCIS: LOS ANGELES (CBS) - Kayla Smith will recur on the new season as Sam's (LL Cool J) newly grown daughter, Kamran. She succeeds Layla Crawford, who originated the role at a much younger age. (TVLine.com)

SEVERANCE (Apple TV+) - Oscar winner Christopher Walken is the latest bound for the Ben Stiller-helmed series as Burt, "the department Head of Optics and Design at Lumen Industries." (Deadline.com)
SWEET TOOTH (Netflix) - Aliza Vellani has joined the cast of the upcoming drama in the series regular role of Rani Singh, "the warm and loving wife of Dr. Singh (Adeel Akhtar), who must find her fortitude to survive in a post-pandemic world." (Deadline.com)
UNCIVIL (NBC, New!) - Rell Battle and Pardis Parker have sold a new comedy to the network about "a pair of friends - a city prosecutor and public defender - who find that their personal squabbles spill into the courtroom and their professional disputes follow them home."
