EVERYTHING'S TRASH BUT IT'S OKAY (Freeform, New!) - Phoebe Robinson is set to star in a new comedy pilot about Phoebe, "a 30-something podcast star navigating her messy life, but when her younger brother Jayden emerges as a leading politician, she's forced to grow up, so she relies on her friends and close-knit family to help her figure out adulthood, since she doesn't seem to have a clue." The project is based on her book of the same name. She'll also write and executive produce alongside Jonathan Groff for ABC Signature. (Deadline.com)
FIRST LADY, THE (Showtime) - O-T Fagbenle has been tapped to play Barack Obama opposite Viola Davis's Michelle Obama in the anthology series: "Barack Hussein Obama II served as the first African American and 44th president of the United States from 2009-17. A member of the Democratic Party, Barack married Michelle Robinson Obama in 1992 before he became an Illinois state senator in 2005. Barack and Michelle are the parents of Malia and Sasha Obama." ICARLY (Paramount+) - Jay Kogen has stepped down as co-showrunner of the upcoming reboot series. Ali Schouten remains on board as showrunner. It's not clear if another executive producer will be brought in to replace Kogen. (Deadline.com)
LADY JAYE (Amazon, New!) - Paramount Television Studios, Entertainment One and Skydance Television are set to team for a live-action TV series based on the "G.I. Joe" character of the same name. Erik Oleson is spearheading the project - billed as "a standalone story centered around Jaye, which will also connect to the larger G.I. Joe universe" - with Lorenzo DiBonaventura also executive producing. Adrianne Palicki played said role in the 2013 feature film "G.I. Joe: Retaliation." No other specifics were given. (Deadline.com)
OZARK (Netflix) - Oscar nominee Bruce Davison will recur on the show's upcoming final season as Randall Schafer, "a powerful retired Illinois U.S. Senator who is accustomed to doing things his way. He is not always easy to win over... but for the right price..." (Deadline.com)
PERRY MASON (HBO) - Eric Lange's Detective Holcomb and Justin Kirk's Hamilton Berger will return as regulars for the show's second season. (Deadline.com)
QUEENS (ABC) - Naturi Naughton will star alongside Eve in the drama pilot as Jill, aka Da Thrill, "a founding member of the Nasty Bitches - the group she formed with her high school friends. Da Thrill lived fast, had rugged rhymes and a troubling drug habit. Today, Jill couldn't be more put together. She's a devout Catholic living a quiet life in Montana with her husband. But everything isn't as idyllic as it seems. Jill is haunted by past secrets." (Deadline.com)
REBEL (ABC) - Abigail Spencer will recur on the Katey Sagal-led newcomer as Misha, "a brilliant cardiothoracic surgeon who has a painful romantic history with Nate (Kevin Zegers) but can't resist getting involved with studying the Stonemore heart valve for fear that she may have inadvertently harmed hundreds of patients." TIME TRAVELER'S WIFE (HBO) - Rose Leslie and Theo James are set to star in the long-in-the-works TV adaptation of Audrey Niffenegger's novel. Originally set up in July 2018, the project tells the story of Clare and Henry, and a marriage with a problem... time travel. Steven Moffat is spearheading the project with Sue Vertue and Brian Minchin of Hartswood Films also executive producing for Warner Bros. Television. Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana toplined the book's feature take in 2009. (Deadline.com)
