INVESTIGATION DISCOVERY ANNOUNCES ARREST OF A CONVICTED MURDERER ON THE RUN THANKS TO TIP FROM THE "IN PURSUIT WITH JOHN WALSH" HOTLINE
-- U.S. Marshals Arrested Maurice Nesbitt in Alabama This Morning, Marking the 25th Fugitive Featured on IN PURSUIT to be Captured --
(Silver Spring, Md.) - Today, the U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force announced the capture of Maurice Nesbitt, who has been on the run since 2017 after being found guilty for the murder of his estranged girlfriend, Rashawn Jackson. Nesbitt was out on bond when he cut off his ankle monitor and fled on the last day of the trial. He was profiled in season one of IN PURSUIT WITH JOHN WALSH in January 2019, and last Sunday was profiled on the show's Facebook page to help drive additional awareness. A brave tipster contacted the IN PURSUIT hotline with specific information on where Nesbitt was hiding out in Alabama, and early this morning, the U.S. Marshals made the arrest.
Now filming its third season, IN PURSUIT WITH JOHN WALSH merges legendary victims advocate John Walsh with the #1 true crime channel, Investigation Discovery, on their joint mission to track down fugitives on the run and find missing children. The first two seasons are available to view at discovery+, the definitive nonfiction streaming service now available from Discovery Inc.
"Thanks to a direct tip from a brave tipster into the IN PURSUIT hotline and our great partners at the U.S. Marshals, a convicted murderer is now off the streets," said host and executive producer, John Walsh. "When I make a promise to you that we're listening, I mean it. Our lines are always open, and I promise, you can always remain anonymous. So, don't hesitate. If you know something - or think you know something - make that call."
In each episode of IN PURSUIT, John Walsh leads viewers through unsolved violent crimes that urgently need to be closed - where time is of the essence and vigilant viewers could bring these criminals to justice. Joining John in every episode is his son, Callahan Walsh, who leads the operation on the ground, working in tandem with the community and local authorities to search for persons-of-interest. In partnership with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), the series also features two missing children each hour, providing age-progression photos and descriptions in the hopes that viewers can provide new leads to their whereabouts.
Investigation Discovery taps into its uniquely engaged audience to help track down these persons of interest and find missing children. The show utilizes an always active call center at 1-833-3-PURSUE and dedicated online hub at InPursuitTips.com, both staffed by trained English and Spanish-speaking operators who accept anonymous tips and alert the proper authorities. To engage with the show, viewers are encouraged to connect using the hashtag #TeamInPursuit, join the IN PURSUIT WITH JOHN WALSH Facebook page at Facebook.com/InPursuitwithJohnWalsh, and connect on Instagram @InvestigationDiscovery or Twitter @DiscoveryID.
