BREATHE (Netflix) - Maggie Kiley has been tapped to direct the first three episodes of the six-part series and executive produce. Martin Gero and Brendan Gall also executive produce with Iturri Sosa as co-executive producer. (Deadline.com)
CLARICE (CBS) - The newcomer reportedly has "no viable path [to] continue on CBS as the broadcast network already committed to a full slate of series for next season." A move to Paramount also appears "bleak as negotiations between the ViacomCBS streamer and co-producer MGM have reached a stalemate." (Deadline.com)
HUNGRY (NBC) - Valerie Bertinelli has been cast in the Demi Lovato-led comedy pilot as Lisa, "Teddy's (Lovato) mom and quick to point out they are also best friends. She is a warm, loving, self-critical and emotional mess of a woman who has lost and gained the same 30 pounds for 30 years. A restaurant owner, she is constantly thinking about and serving people food." (Deadline.com)
JACK REACHER (Amazon) - The Alan Ritchson-led Lee Child adaptation has cast Kristin Kreuk as Charlie, "happily married to Hubble, the refined former debutante is living the Country Club life but is much tougher than she looks"; Marc Bendavid as Hubble, "a frazzled accountant living a grander life than he can afford and gets caught up in a business he would never remotely consider"; Willie C. Carpenter as Mosley, "a life-long resident of Margrave and the town barber, Mosley hates what's going on in Margrave and is happy to help Reacher, advising him on the ins and outs of the small town"; Currie Graham as Kliner Sr., "beloved by the townspeople for his generosity in saving the struggling town of Margrave, this formidable businessman has a very dark side"; Harvey Guillén as Jasper, "Margrave's medical examiner who is suddenly overwhelmed and terrified by multiple murders in his small town"; and Maxwell Jenkins, as Young Reacher, "he learns the life lessons that make Jack Reacher the man he becomes." JOE EXOTIC (Peacock) - Lex Mayson is the latest to be cast in the limited series as Saff, "Joe's employee, joining previously announced cast members Kate McKinnon, Cameron Mitchell, Brian Van Holt, Nat Wolff, Sam Keeley and Dennis Quaid." (Variety.com)
LET ME HEAR A RHYME (Peacock, New!) - Writer Morenike Balogun and director Morgan Cooper are set to team for a new drama at the streamer billed as "a coming-of-age story set amidst and violence and popular rise of hip hop music in the 90's. Part murder mystery, part thriller and part love story, Let Me Hear a Rhyme is a premium drama with surrealist elements that tells the story of three grieving teens who use the clues their murdered friend left behind in his music to find the killer. This discovery sets off a chain of events they never saw coming." G-Unit Film and Television's Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson and The Tannenbaum Co.'s Eric and Kim Tannenbaum are also on board to executive produce for Lionsgate Television and Universal Television with Jason Wang serves as a co-executive producer. LOVE HAS WON (HBO, New!) - Director Hannah Olson is in production on a new docuseries for the pay channel about The Love Has Won movement, "the obscure religious group branded a cult by many, and its leader Amy Carlson. The series will tell the story of Carlson, AKA Mother God, and Love Has Won with exclusive access to key subjects and previously unpublished archival material, according to HBO." NOW AND THEN (Apple TV+) - The bilingual thriller series has cast Jorge Lopez as Alejandro, "a dedicated and athletic young man with a bright future"; Alicia Jaziz as Young Ana, "a younger version of Ana (Marina de Tavira), a smart and ambitious woman who put her political career on hold to support her husband's"; Dario Yazbek Bernal as Young Pedro, "a younger version of Pedro (José María Yazpik), a complex politician married to Ana, he feels entangled in a life that doesn't belong to him"; Alicia Sanz as Young Sofia, "a younger version of Sofia (Maribel Verdú), a strong self-made lawyer who's life took an unexpected turn 20 years ago and is now hiding too many secrets"; Jack Duarte as Young Marcos, "a younger version of Marcos (Manolo Cardona), a passionate surgeon who sacrificed his dreams for his family and friends"; and Miranda de la Serna as Young Daniela, "a younger version of Daniela (Soledad Villamil), an introspective artist who constantly struggles to overcome a traumatic event from her past." SEAL TEAM (CBS) - The show's upcoming fifth season will reportedly consist of 14 episodes: "the first four will first air on CBS and the remaining 10 will premiere on Paramount+." (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED BLUMHOUSE FILM SERIES (Epix) - Director Marcus Dunstan and writer Paul Soter are behind the franchise's second installment, "Unhuman," which "follows a group of high school students whose school bus crashes while on a field trip. Relationships are tested amongst the students once they realize they are being stalked by a mysterious attacker who intends to drive them out of their bucolic adolescence and straight into a horrifying fight to survive." Brianne Tju, Benjamin Wadsworth, Ali Gallo, Uriah Shelton, Josh Mikel, CJ Leblanc, Lo Graham, Drew Scheid, Peter Giles, Blake Burt and Dana Wing Lau star in the film, production of which is underway in New Orleans. UNTITLED COBURN & WOOTTON PROJECT (NBC) - Morena Baccarin and Ryan Michelle Bathé have scored the lead roles on the drama pilot, a pulse-pounding, high-stakes two-hander featuring two women - Elena Federova (Baccarin), a recently captured brilliant criminal mastermind who orchestrates a number of coordinated bank heists for a mysterious purpose, and Val Fitzgerald (Bathé), the principled, relentless and socially outcast FBI agent who will stop at nothing to foil her ambitious plan. WESTWORLD (HBO) - Aurora Perrineau will appear in at least five episodes of the upcoming season in a yet-to-be-revealed role. (Deadline.com)
WITH LOVE (Amazon) - The Emeraude Tobia/Mark Indelicato-led romantic series has cast Constance Marie as Beatriz Diaz, "Jorge and Lily's mother, she is going through a midlife/identity crisis with her kids getting older and her marriage being on auto-pilot"; Benito Martinez as Jorge Diaz, Sr., "he's a hug in human form, a loving and caring father and husband, even if he has gotten a bit too comfortable in his relationship"; and Vincent Rodriguez III as Henry, "Jorge's charismatic boyfriend who is about to meet the Diaz family and be the first man that Jorge has brought home ever." YELLOWJACKETS (Showtime) - Sarah Desjardins, Kevin Alves and Alexa Barajas will recur on the upcoming series. Desjardins plays Callie, "the teenaged daughter of Shauna (Melanie Lynskey)"; with Alves as teenage Travis, "guarded, insecure, and sometimes obnoxious, teenage Travis struggles to be decent while using his mask of indifference to navigate his inexperience with girls and figure out how to live among them"; and Barajas as teenage Mari, "a member of the varsity Yellowjackets, she's known as a chatterbox and yearns for the attention of the popular crowd."
