ALL AMERICAN (The CW) - Hunter Clowdus's of JJ Parker - "an outside linebacker turned quarterback for the Beverly Hills Eagles, who shines as a star both on and off the field" - has been promoted to series regular for the upcoming fourth season. (Deadline.com)
BILLIONS (Showtime) - Co-star Damian Lewis has confirmed his departure from the series after five seasons. (@lewis_damian)
DC'S STARGIRL (The CW) - Joel McHale's Sylvester Pemberton/Starman will return as a regular for the series' third season. (Deadline.com)
HAWKMASTER (FOX, New!) - Mark Andrews has sold an animated drama to the network "set in a fantasy world, where Knights ride giant Birds of Prey, and Kess, a young woman who has always dreamed of flying, encounters a mysterious Hawk without its rider and soon finds herself caught up in a dangerous plot to kill the Queen. With the help of the Four Winds, renegade Knights banished from the kingdom, Kess will discover what it means to be a Knight and trust your winged companion with your life." PAINKILLER (Netflix) - The limited series about the origins of the opioid crisis has cast Taylor Kitsch as Glen Kryger, "a hardworking family man whose life is upended after an injury"; Ana Cruz Kayne as Brianna Ortiz, "an ambitious young attorney"; Tyler Ritter as U.S. Attorney John Brownlee; John Ales as Gregory Fitzgibbons, "a doctor in rural Virginia"; Sam Anderson as Raymond Sackler, "co-owner of Purdue Pharma"; Carolina Bartczak as Lily Kryger, "Glen's wife"; Jack Mulhern as Tyler Kryger, "Glen's stepson"; and Ron Lea as Bill Havens, "a veteran attorney." RUPAUL'S DRAG RACE (VH1) - Emmy-winning host and executive producer RuPaul Charles has signed a first-look deal with Sony Pictures Television. The pact gives the studio first crack at his RuCo banner's scripted output. (Deadline.com)

UNTITLED KELLY & SCHNEIDER PROJECT (HBO, New!) - Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider have set up a half-hour dark comedy at the pay channel "set in the year 2000 about a closeted gay teen who constantly dissociates and imagines he's a famous (straight) actor merely playing the role. That is, until he meets someone who upends his entire way of thinking." Gettin' Rad Productions' Naomi and Adam Scott will also executive produce. (Deadline.com)
WASHINGTON BLACK (Hulu) - Sterling K. Brown's long-in-the-works adaptation of Esi Edugyan's novel has received a nine-episode order from the streamer. Selwyn Seyfu Hinds is behind the project, which "follows the 19th-century adventures of George Washington "Wash" Black - an 11-year-old boy on a Barbados sugar plantation who must flee after a shocking death threatens to upend his life." Brown will play Medwin Harris, "who traveled the world after a traumatic childhood as a Black refugee in Nova Scotia as the de facto Mayor of Black Halifax prioritizes the community over everything except Washington Black, his young protégé." Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Jeremy Bell, Lindsay Williams, D.J. Goldberg, Anthony Hemingway and Jennifer Johnson will executive produce alongside Hinds and Brown for The Gotham Group and Indian Meadows Productions. Edugyan is a co-producer. (Deadline.com)
