DANCE BROTHERS (Netflix) - The Finnish series has cast Samuel Kujala and Roderick Kabanga as the title roles in the series, which "centers around the two brothers, Roni (Kabanga) and Sakari (Kujala), as they struggle to make a living as professional dancers. To help finance their dance dreams, they decide to start their own club which provides income, housing and a training space. Their unique club and impressive dance routines quickly bring them fame. Soon artistic ambitions and personal relationships collide with commercial demands, and the love the brothers have for each other will be tested." Jeanine Muyima, Fanni Noroila, Lauri Lohi, Eeva Eloranta and Cristal Snow also star in the project, which is currently filming in Helsinki. (Variety.com)
LAW & ORDER: SVU (NBC) - Warren Leight is stepping down as showrunner of the veteran drama for the second time. "The last two years of show running during a pandemic have been arduous, and I've decided to take a break," he wrote on Twitter. (@warrenleightTV)
MRS. AMERICAN PIE (Apple TV+) - Oscar and Emmy winner Allison Janney has signed onto the Kristen Wiig-led comedy series as Evelyn, "a full-time Palm Beach resident and member of the high society." (Deadline.com)
SAINT X (Hulu) - Alycia Debnam-Carey has been tapped as the new lead of the psychological drama, about Emily, "a sharp and ambitious woman whose carefully constructed, seemingly perfect life begins to crumble." She replaces Victoria Pedretti, who bowed out over creative differences. Debnam-Carey, a regular on AMC's "Fear the Walking Dead," "won't be there at the beginning [of season eight, but] she may join later in the shoot." (Deadline.com)
STAX (HBO, New!) - Director Jamila Wignot is spearheading a multi-part docuseries at the pay channel about Stax Records, "which was founded in 1957 by Jim Stewart. Stewart, a country music fan, and his sister Estelle Axton, who mortgaged her house to afford recording equipment, released "Fool in Love" by the Veltones under its original name Satellite Records. They then took over an old movie theater in Memphis with plans to turn it into a recording studio and discovering a coterie of R&B acts." Ezra Edelman, Caroline Waterlow, Nigel Sinclair, Nicholas Ferrall, Scott Pascucci, Sophia Dilley, Michele Smith, Jody Gerson, David Blackman, Charlie Cohen and Ron Broitman will executive produce for White Horse Pictures, Concord Originals, Polygram Entertainment and Warner Music Entertainment. Elfant Festa and Cassidy Hartmann are co-executive producers with Wignot and Kara Elverson producing. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED JACKASS PROJECT (Paramount+, New!) - Paramount Global CEO Bob Bakish has indicated a new incarnation of the series is in the works for the streaming service. "Based off the success of Jackass Forever, we are working with the creators to continue the partnership with a new series bringing even more ridiculous antics straight to Paramount+," he said on a call with analysts Tuesday following quarterly earnings. UNTITLED SUICIDE SQUAD SPIN-OFF PROJECT (HBO Max) - Viola Davis is in talks to once again reprise her role of Amanda Waller for the latest spin-off series. Christal Henry is behind the Warner Bros. Television-based project, which also features James Gunn and Peter Safran as executive producers. Davis's Waller most recently returned in "Peacemaker" as the mother of Leota Adebayo (Danielle Brooks). (Deadline.com)
