AMERICAN IDOL (ABC) - Judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie as well as host Ryan Seacrest are "all expected to be back" for the show's sixth season on the network and the 21st season overall. (Deadline.com)
ANTIRACIST BABY (Netflix) - The streamer has opted not to proceed with its animated project based on Dr. Ibram X. Kendi children's book of the same name. Said report indicates the decision was "creative rather than cost related." (Variety.com)
BACHELOR IN PARADISE (ABC) - Recent "The Bachelor" host Jesse Palmer will do the same for the upcoming eighth season of the spin-off series. (Deadline.com)
BLOOD & TREASURE (CBS) - The show's long-delayed second season will finally launch Sunday, July 17 on sibling Paramount+ with two episodes, nearly three years since its first season finale. Episodes will continue to drop weekly on Sundays. (TVLine.com)
FATAL ATTRACTION (Paramount+) - Silver Tree has been tapped to direct and executive produce the feature-turned-TV series with Lizzy Caplan and Joshua Jackson in the lead roles. (Deadline.com)
GRAMMAR RODEO (Disney+, New!) - Director Jon Watts and writer Chris Ford are spearheading the latest "Star Wars" entry at the streaming service. The project "is being described as a galactic version of classic Amblin coming-of-age adventure films of the '80s" with a casting notice calling "for four children, around 11 to 12 years old." Said moniker is a code name, "a reference to an episode of The Simpsons in which Bart and his schoolmates steal a car and run away for a week, using a phony educational event as an alibi." The article adds following "Obi-Wan Kenobi" on May 27, look for "Andor" later this summer, season three of "The Mandalorian" in late 2022 or early 2023, and "Ahsoka" in 2023. Further off is "The Acolyte," with "a tale set about a century before the era of the Skywalkers." (VanityFair.com)
HOW TO SCREW IT ALL UP (HBO Max, New!) - The streamer has commissioned a six-part Spanish-language drama which "follows a group of friends who take a directionless road trip, but end up finding themselves. Alba, a new girl at school having trouble fitting in, hears the end of year trip is cancelled, ending her chances of running away from home. She then discovers her classmates plan to pretend the trip is still on, steal a van belonging to one of their brothers and take a three-week road trip with no plan." Jaime Olías and Pablo Sanhermelando are behind the project, which stars Naira Lleó, Malva Vela, Gabriel Guevara, Óscar Ortuño, Nadia Al Saidi and Sergi Méndez. Sanhermelando and Valentina Francelet are the executive producers for Boomerang TV; with Miguel Salvat and Patricia Nieto likewise serving for HBO Max. (Deadline.com)
KEVIN CAN F**K HIMSELF (AMC) - Erinn Hayes, who was famously written out as the wife on the show's namesake "Kevin Can Wait," will guest on the upcoming second and final season of the series in a yet-to-be-revealed role. (Deadline.com)
WASHINGTON BLACK (Hulu) - Billy Boyd, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, and Julian Rhind-Tutt are slated to recur on the period drama, adapted from Esi Edugyan's novel of the same name. Boyd will play Willard, "the proverbial Man in Black, the hunter dispatched by Erasmus Wilde to find and capture Washington Black." Mwine is set as Gaius, "who is described as a man with a foot in two worlds, that of the oppressor and the oppressed." And Rhind-Tutt is Erasmus Wilde, "the iron-handed master of Faith Plantation in Barbados, where Washington Black begins life in bondage before flying to freedom." (Variety.com)
WILD LIFE (HBO Max, New!) - Izabella Alvarez will star in a new single-camera comedy pilot at the streamer which "follows a diverse group of high school teens who are struggling with personal and social issues who spend their school hours working at the local animal rescue as part of an alternative educational program." Jason Ubaldi, Chris Peterson and Bryan Moore are behind the project with Imagine Kids + Family's Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, Stephanie Sperber and Jennilee Cummings; Jax Media's Tony Hernandez and Jake Fuller; showrunners Mike Chessler and Chris Alberghini; and director Rachel Raimist also executive producing. WINGS OF FIRE (Netflix) - The streamer has likewise scrapped its Ava DuVernay-produced adaptation of Tui T. Sutherland's children's books. 10 episodes were commissioned back in April of 2021. (Variety.com)
WOMEN OF THE MOVEMENT (ABC) - The Alphabet doesn't "have any current plans" for a second installment of the anthology series. Executive producer Marissa Jo Cerar had previously written a bible for a proposed second go-round with "a jump in time, closer to the '80s." (Deadline.com)
