BAD SEED RETURNS, THE (Lifetime) - Mckenna Grace took to social media with the news her sequel film has been delayed from its previously announced Monday premiere in the wake of the recent tragedy in Texas. (@MckennaGraceful)
DC'S STARGIRL (The CW) - Seth Green will lend his voice to Thunderbolt during the upcoming third season. He'll replace Jim Gaffigan, who filled said role in two episodes last season. (TVLine.com)
DEMIMONDE (HBO) - J.J. Abrams's long-in-the-works sci-fi drama has "major budget issues are threatening to derail it." Said report indicates "Warner Bros. Television and HBO, have been trying to rein in costs, but Bad Robot has kept firm on their proposed budget, said to be in the mid-$200 million range, and would not agree to a reduction below that." The publication goes on to say "a broader discussion about Bad Robot's deal is expected amid a big, across-the-board close examination of WarnerMedia's businesses by Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav." Bad Robot is currently in the middle of a five-year deal with the studio, its home for more than 15 years, which runs through 2024. (Deadline.com)
LAST KING OF THE CROSS (Paramount+) - Tim Roth has joined the cast of the Australian drama series, replacing Ian McShane who withdrew due to health concerns. Producer Mark Fennessy said: "It's unfortunate that Ian is unable to join us and we wish him a speedy recovery. We are truly delighted that the super brilliant Tim Roth joins our cast as Ezra and cannot wait to see him breathe life into yet another unforgettable character." (Deadline.com)
MONSIEUR SPADE (AMC Networks, New!) - The company has acquired the North American rights to the Clive Owen-led drama which "centers around writer Dashiell Hammett's great detective Sam Spade (Owen), the protagonist of Hammett's 1930 classic The Maltese Falcon. Monsieur Spade finds Spade in the South of France in 1963 at the end of the Algerian War, years after the events depicted in The Maltese Falcon. Living out his golden years in the small town of Bozouls, Spade will soon find his tranquility interrupted." Scott Frank and Tom Fontana are behind the project with Frank set to direct for Black Bear Television, FilmNation Entertainment and Haut et Court TV with Owen, Barry Levinson, Teddy Schwarzman, Michael Heimler, Caroline Benjo, Simon Arnal, Carole Scotta, Carlo Martinelli and David Halpern also among the executive producers. Pre-production is underway for a summer start in France. (Deadline.com)
OVERLOOK/TINY HORRORS (Netflix, New!) - Both Stephen King projects from J.J. Abrams's Bad Robot Productions are reportedly now set up at the streaming service. "Overlook" - a horror-thriller series inspired by and featuring iconic characters from King's masterpiece "The Shining" - was originally given a production commitment by HBO Max in 2020 but was ultimately shuttered last year. "Tiny Horrors" is said to be a horror anthology series. No other details were given. (Deadline.com)
SPEED RACER (Apple TV+, New!) - Hiram Martinez and Ron Fitzgerald are spearheading a new live-action series for the streamer based on Tatsuo Yoshida's classic 1960s manga series about automobile racing. No plot specifics were given about the project, which is set up at the Warner Bros. Television-based Bad Robot Productions. A writers' room is currently being staffed. The company's J.J. Abrams and Ben Stephenson will also executive produce. (Deadline.com)
WORLD ON FIRE (PBS) - Gregg Sulkin has joined the cast of the show's second season as David, "an attractive, charming and confident fighter pilot of Jewish heritage who will eventually need to put all his survival skills to the test when he comes face to face with the darkest side of the war."
