CAST ANNOUNCED FOR RAPMAN'S NEW NETFLIX SERIES 'SUPACELL' AS PRODUCTION BEGINS IN LONDON
Production of Rapman's SUPACELL is due to begin this month in South London.
The lead cast includes, Tosin Cole (61st, Street, Till, Ear for Eye)as Michael, Nadine Mills (Sliced and The Weekend) as Sabrina, Eric Kofi Abrefa (Blue Story, BMF) as Andre, Calvin Demba (The Rig, Life, Micky and the Bear) as Rodney, Josh Tedeku (Moonhaven, A Town Called Malice)as Tazer, Adelayo Adedayo (The Responder, Timewasters)as Dionne, Rayxia Ojo (Harry Potter and The Cursed Child - West End Production, Call The Midwife) as Sharleen and Giacomo Mancini (Top Boy, Orthodox) as Spud
Logline: SUPACELL is about a group of five ordinary people who unexpectedly develop superpowers. They have little in common except for one thing: they are all Black South Londoners. It is down to one man, Michael Lasaki, to bring them all together in order to save the woman he loves
Rapman (Blue Story) serves as Showrunner, Creator and Lead Director
Rapman will be directing Episodes 1, 2 and 6. Episodes 3 - 5 will be directed by Sebastian Thiel (Dreaming Whilst Black, Just A Couple and forthcoming drama Riches)
Mark Hedges is Series Producer and Sheila Nortley serves as Block 2 Producer and Associate Producer. Geraldine Hawkins serves as Co-Producer
Rapman serves as Executive Producer alongside Anna Ferguson and Steve Searle for Netflix
Mouktar Mohammed and Henrietta Lee of New Wave are Executive Producer and Associate Producer respectively.
SUPACELL will be giving Black creatives the opportunity to break into the TV industry through the Supacell Six scheme. The initiative, founded by Rapman, New Wave and Netflix will give six chosen candidates the opportunity to grow in their chosen field through shadowing crew, access to experts in their field and additional upskilling courses.
The Supacell Six include; Jessica Magaye, Ricardo McCleary - Campbell, Saraphina Mattis, Melissa Simon-Hartman, Cleo Young and Micheal Ademilua
