NEW YORK - August 30, 2022 - The Peabody Award-winning series THE LATE SHOW with STEPHEN COLBERT will debut its eighth season Tuesday, Sept. 6 (11:35 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and will be available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+. Guests appearing during premiere week include journalist Alex Wagner, comedian Roy Wood Jr. (9/6); CBS MORNINGS anchors Gayle King, Tony Dokoupil and Nate Burleson, actress Betty Gilpin (9/7); entrepreneurs/actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, and a musical performance by James Taylor (9/8).
As previously announced by Colbert earlier this month, Louis Cato will make his debut this season as the show's new bandleader. Cato, who has been with THE LATE SHOW since its launch, is joined by Joe Saylor, who has performed alongside Cato since the show's inception, and longtime house band members Louis Fouché, Jon Lampley, Endea Owens and Nêgah Santos.
THE LATE SHOW has dominated as the most-watched program in late night for the last five consecutive years. The series is heading into the upcoming Creative Arts and Primetime Emmy Award ceremonies with five nominations, including Outstanding Variety Talk Series and Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series.
