1923 (Paramount+) - Brandon Sklenar is bound for the Taylor Sheridan series as Spencer Dutton, "Jacob Dutton's (Harrison Ford) nephew, and John Dutton Sr.'s (James Badge Dale) brother, who has witnessed the horrors of World War I." (Deadline.com)
ACOLYTE, THE (Disney+) - Manny Jacinto has been cast in the "Star Wars" series in a yet-to-be-disclosed role. (Deadline.com)
BACK IN THE GROOVE (Hulu, New!) - Taye Diggs is set to host an eight-episode series for the streamer in which "three women in their 40s, stuck in the grind of their everyday lives, who will check into The Groove Hotel, a resort on an island of the Dominican Republic. The goal is to rediscover their youth, live joyously, and hopefully find love with men half their age." Elan Gale, Bill Dixon, Sonya Wilkes, Evan Wilkes, Michael Krupat, John Luscombe, Shannon Stoeke and Diggs are the executive producers for Walt Disney Television Alternative and Beyond Media Rights. BLADE RUNNER 2099 (Amazon) - The streamer is moving forward with its live-action series set in the "Blade Runner" universe. Silka Luisa is behind the project, which also features Ridley Scott among its auspices. No plot specifics were given other than it is set 50 years after the film sequel. (Deadline.com)
BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID SERIES (Amazon, New!) - Regé-Jean Page and Glen Powell are on track to star as Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid in an untitled series at the streamer set in an alternate America. Kin and Ryan Firpo are behind the project, which is set up at Joe and Anthony Russo's AGBO banner. All will presumably executive produce. (Deadline.com)
CALL ME KAT (FOX) - Kevin Sussman will drop by his fellow "The Big Bang Theory" alum Mayim Bialik in the show's October 20 episode as Zac, "the owner of a local board game bar where Max and Carter find themselves checking out the competition." (Deadline.com)
EAST NEW YORK (CBS) - The newcomer has cast the following in recurring roles: Caitlin Mehner as Corinne Moynahan, "Killian's (Kevin Rankin) girlfriend"; Darien Sills-Evans as Deputy Mayor Raymond Sharpe, "the polished and intuitive councilman native to East New York"; and C.S. Lee as Desk Sergeant Jimmy Kee, who "keeps order and decorum in the precinct." (Deadline.com)
FIRE COUNTRY (CBS) - Michael Trucco will recur on the newcomer as "Vince's (Billy Burke) brother Luke who is described as a charming Cal Fire Communications Director. He's a schmoozy PR guy now, but he's worked years in active fires, earning his fair share of scars. He's career-driven, always looking for that next promotion, that next feather in his cap. His kidding, playful nature instantly endears him to almost everyone - except his older brother, Vince (a gruff fire chief). Luke will step in to help out his family, but the longer he sticks around, the more his “altruistic” motives will come into question." (Deadline.com)
HIP (ABC, New!) - Drew Goddard is spearheading a domestic take on the French series at the Alphabet about "a single mom with three kids and an exceptional mind helps solve an unsolvable crime when she rearranges some evidence during her shift as a cleaner for the police department. When they discover she has a knack for putting things in order because of her HIP ("high intellectual potential") she is brought on as a consultant to work with a by-the-book seasoned detective, and together they form an unusual and unstoppable team." Sarah Esberg, Pierre Laugier, Anthony Lancret, and Jean Nainchrik will also executive produce for Goddard Textiles, Newen Connect and ABC Signature. (Deadline.com)
SHELTER (Amazon) - Tovah Feldshuh has joined the cast of the Harlan Coben series as Bat Lady, "a wraith-like recluse who gives Mickey (Jaden Michael) an ominous disturbing piece of news." (Deadline.com)
STERLING AFFAIRS, THE (FX) - Director/executive producer Kevin Bray has signed a first-look deal with FX Productions. (Deadline.com)
THIS IS NOT HOLLYWOOD - AVETRANA (Disney+, New!) - The streamer has commissioned a four-part Italian series "based on the true story of the death Sarah Scazzi and the massive media response. Each 80-minute episode takes point of view of one of the story's main protagonists - Sarah, Sabrina, Michele and Cosima, who are played by Federica Pala, Giulia Perulli, Paolo De Vita and Vanessa Scalera, respectively." Imma Villa, Anna Ferzetti and Giancarlo Commare also star in the project, which is based on Carmine Gazzanni and Flavia Piccinni's book "Sarah: La Ragazza di Avetrana." Pippo Mezzapesa is directing from scripts by himself, Antonella Gaeta and Davide Serino in collaboration with Flavia Piccinni and Carmine Gazzanni. Fremantle-owned Groenlandia is producing. UNTITLED JAMES MARSDEN PROJECT (Freevee, New!) - James Marsden is toplining a "top-secret courtroom docu-style comedy series" for the streamer which is now in post-production. The semi-improvised series counts Cody Heller, David Bernad, Nicholas Hatton, Lee Eisenberg, Jake Szymanski, Gene Stupnitsky, Todd Schulman and Ruben Fleischer among its auspices. (Deadline.com)
