"ALASKA: THE LAST FRONTIER" RETURNS TO DISCOVERY CHANNEL SUNDAY, OCTOBER 9

The Kilcher family return to Discovery Channel as their lives as homesteaders outside of Homer, Alaska continue to be documented in an all-new season of the multiple Emmy-Award nominated series ALASKA: THE LAST FRONTIER which premieres Sunday, October 9 at 9PM ET/PT.

Several generations proudly live off the land that Yule Kilcher obtained more than 80 years ago. Along-time Alaskan who helped write the state constitution and later served in the Legislature, Yule was fiercely dedicated to his family's mission as homesteaders. He and his wife Ruth taught their family to be self-sufficient and to live solely off the resources the land can provide. Yule's sons, Atz and Otto Kilcher, continue Yule's vision and traditions of a subsistence lifestyle and teach this way of life to their children and their families who live on the 640-acre homestead, including Atz's son, Atz Lee, and Otto's son, Eivin.

The all-new season of ALASKA: THE LAST FRONTIER begins when Otto Kilcher is critically mauled by a steer during a severe snowstorm. With doctors unsure if he will recover, his wife Charlotte is left reeling with grief and the family overwhelmed with homestead work. Life has always been unpredictable yet rewarding on the homestead but now the Kilcher family is faced with a hard truth after Otto's accident: the younger generation must step up and take on more responsibilities or the homestead will not survive.

Other stories this season include Atz, with the help of his daughter, singer-songwriter Jewel, mobilizing a group of military veterans to do good deeds for others and bring water to a local homesteader; Eivin considering expanding the Kilcher's reach in the state by becoming a bush pilot; Charlotte leaving the homestead for the very first time since Otto's injury; August and his brother Eivin taking a trip to Red Mountain; and Atz's son Etienne enduring a homestead rite of passage in the wilderness before he leaves the homestead for college.

Audiences can join the conversation on social media by using the hashtag #AlaskaTheLastFrontier, and following ALASKA THE LAST FRONTIER on Facebook, Twitter, and Discovery on Instagram and TikTok.
