Can love still blossom in today's world without relying on being online? Japanese reality series Offline Love sets out to find out, premiering February 18. Unveiled today, the main trailer offers a sneak peek at the enchanting city of Nice, France, with its beautiful beaches and atmospheric old town. Participants navigate the city, relying on letters and promises to connect with their companions, as they strive to find their soulmate in a limited timeframe.
Following the success of popular reality romance series like The Boyfriend and Love Village, Offline Love offers a fresh take on dating reality shows. Ten men and women embark on a journey to find love in the picturesque city of Nice, without using digital devices. But there's a twist: they only have 10 days to meet and connect. Despite no guarantee of crossing paths, chance meetings and inevitable encounters suggest that they might be destined for love. Will the participants find their soulmates and experience true love?
The series features studio commentary from Kyoko Koizumi and the comedy duo Reiwa Roman, both making their debut as emcees for a dating reality show. Koizumi, a former idol turned singer, actor, and producer, reflects on the show's premise: "I never really connected with romance reality shows, but this concept is fascinating: in a foreign country and without digital devices, participants rely on letters, promises, and coincidences to find love. I grew up without a smartphone, and every moment felt precious." She brings her perspective as a member of the "offline love" generation, watching over the contestants' romantic adventures.
