VICE SPORTS PRESENTS ARENA FOOTBALL ONE, LIVE ON VICE TV, SUNDAY, MARCH 16
Primetime Arena Gridiron Action Kicks-Off with SW Kansas at Washington
NEW YORK (March 13, 2025) - Arena Football One (AF1) premieres on VICE TV on Sunday, March 16 (7:00 - 10:00 PM ET), when VICE Sports presents the SW Kansas Storm visiting the Washington Wolfpack, live in primetime from Angel of the Winds Arena in Everett, Wash., on the first full weekend of the 2025 season.
Late last year, AF1 entered a new broadcast agreement with VICE TV, making VICE Sports the exclusive home for "Sunday Nights in the Arena," the league's weekly live primetime match-up. The game between the Storm and Wolfpack is the first of 14 regular-season games VICE Sports will air on VICE TV this season (see schedule below). Following the regular season, VICE TV will televise three AF1 playoff games, including the Arena Championship Game, on Sunday, July 11.
Two-time Emmy Award-winning play-by-play announcer Ari Wolfe calls Storm-Wolfpack, with arena football Hall of Famer Sherdrick "Sed" Bonner serving as a game analyst, and Sofia Gutierrez reporting from the sidelines. Wolfe joined NFL Network in 2010 and serves as a news anchor and reporter. In addition, he broadcasts preseason games for the Kansas City Chiefs and calls events for ESPN, Stadium Network, Tennis Channel, Pac-12 Networks, CBS Sports Network, and NBC Sports. Bonner's career as an Arena Football quarterback spanned 15 seasons, 14 with the Arizona Rattlers. Gutierrez's football broadcast resume includes covering Super Bowl LVI and LVII for DAZN.
The Southwest Kansas Storm won the inaugural Arena Football One game 40-26 over the Nashville Kats, as the league officially kicked off on Saturday night in Dodge City. The Storm look to keep rolling this week against the Wolfpack. Head Coach Gary Thomas, in his second year as an arena coach, has taken to the game quickly. Storm quarterback Jalen Morton, a fixture in the CFL and UFL, threw for 169 yards and rushed for an additional 48 against the Kats. His top receiving options were Da'Quan Bailey-Brown and Shiloh Flanagan. Bailey-Brown, a speedster in his second year with Southwest Kansas, is well-known among arena fans and had 71 receiving yards versus Nashville. Flanagan, who did not play college football and was discovered last season during a scrimmage by Coach Thomas, had 76 yards last week. Defensively, the Storm secondary forced five interceptions against the Kats, three by defensive back Michael Lawson, returning two for touchdowns.
J.R. Wells is in his second year as head coach of the Wolfpack, and his revamped roster is ready to go. Leading the offense for Washington is well-traveled arena quarterback Joseph Hess. A solid performer throughout his Arena Football career, Washington is banking on his veteran presence to put points on the board. His prime targets are DeShon Williams and Aakiel Greer, two big, play-making receivers. Williams is a physical force entering his second season with the Wolfpack and should be a reliable target for Hess. Greer was a sought-after free agent who, at 6'4" with blazing speed, caught the Wolfpack's eyes last season after carving them up for three touchdowns. Caleb Brown leads a defensive secondary that will fly to the ball, playing true to their Wolfpack namesake.
