WEEK No. 8:

ABC delivered another strong finish among young adults during the week of November 7, 2005. The Network took a close second-place in Adults 18-49, just one-tenth of a rating point out of a tie for first with CBS (4.3/11 vs. 4.4/12), and won the week among Adults 18-34 (3.6/11). In fact, ABC has been the No. 1 network in Adults 18-34 on 6 of 8 weeks this season, representing its most wins in the demo during any season in 6 years � since the 1999-00 TV Season. ABC also delivered the No. 1 network position for the week among Men 18-49 (3.8/11), Women 18-34 (4.0/12) and Kids 2-11 (1.5/6).

� ABC was up the most among the networks from the same week last year (w/o 11/8/04), growing by 1 million viewers (11.4 million vs. 10.4 million) and by 10% among Adults 18-49 (4.3/11 vs. 3.9/10). With more modest gains, Fox was the only other network to see increases from the year-ago week. ABC produced its second-strongest week this season in Total Viewers (11.4 million) and Adults 18-49 (4.3/11), its top numbers since season premiere week � best since w/o 9/19/05.

� Through the first 11 nights of the 2005 November Sweep, ABC has grown its audience by 1 million viewers (11.1 million vs. 10.1 million) and by 8% in Adults 18-49 (4.2/11 vs. 3.9/10) over the same nights last November. ABC is also the biggest gainer in November, as each of the other broadcasters is either flat or down from the same point last November.

Rankings: ABC aired 5 of the Top 7 TV shows of the week in the key Adult 18-49 sales demographic, with �Desperate Housewives� standing as the week�s No. 1 show on all seven of its original telecasts this season: �Desperate Housewives� � No. 1, �Grey�s Anatomy� � No. 3, �NFL Monday Night Football� No. 4, �Lost� � No. 5 and �Extreme Makeover: Home Edition� � No. 7. ABC claimed 6 of the Top 20 most-watched shows during the week: �Desperate Housewives� � No. 2, �MNF� � No. 3, �Lost� No. 5, �Grey�s Anatomy� � No. 6, �Extreme Makeover: Home Edition� � No. 12 and �Commander In Chief� � No. 17. ABC�s �Desperate Housewives� stood as the No. 1 show of the week in each of key adult (AD18-34/AD18-49/AD25-54) and women demographics (W18-34/W18-49/W25-54). ABC�s �Monday Night Football� ranked as the week�s No. 1 program across the men demographics (M18-34/M18-49/M25-54). ABC�s broad skewing �Extreme Makeover: Home Edition� was again the No. 1 broadcast during the week among Kids 2-11.

Monday

ABC delivered a commanding victory on Monday night, beating second-place CBS by 3.2 million viewers (17.7 million vs. 14.5 million) and by 43% among Adults 18-49 (7.0/18 vs. 4.9/12). ABC has been the No. 1 network on Monday night in Adults 18-49 on 9 of the past 10 weeks.

� ABC drew its largest Monday night audience in more than 4 years and produced its top Adult 18-49 rating on the evening in close to 5 years � since 9/10/01 and 1/8/01, respectively.

�Wife Swap� (8:00-9:00 p.m. Note: �Wife Swap� airs at various times across the U.S.)*

ABC�s �Wife Swap� earned a close second in its time period among Adults 18-49 (3.5/10), pacing just one-tenth of a rating point behind CBS� comedies. The ABC unscripted program ranked No. 1 among Adults 18-34 (3.0/9).

� �Wife Swap� achieved its strongest numbers ever in the time period in both viewers (8.8 million) and Adults 18-49 (3.5/10).

� �Wife Swap� has improved the time period for ABC by sizeable margins. Versus ABC�s delivery last season in the time period with regular programming during the run of �Monday Night Football,� �Wife Swap� has improved the Net�s delivery by 2.6 million viewers (7.4 million vs. 4.8 million) and by 81% in Adults 18-49 (2.9/8 vs. 1.6/5).

�Monday Night Football: Indianapolis at New England� (9:07 p.m. � 11:51 p.m.)

ABC�s coverage of the �NFL Monday Night Football� contest between the New England Patriots and the Indianapolis Colts drew an average audience of 21.9 million viewers and an 8.8 rating, 22 share among Adults 18-49. Indianapolis beat New England by a score of 40-21.

� In Total Viewers and Adults 18-49, it was the highest-rated game for the ABC �Monday Night Football� franchise in nearly 5 years � since 12/18/00.

� ABC�s �MNF� stood as the No. 1 TV program of the evening in Total Viewers (21.9 million) and across all key adult demographics: AD18-34 (7.7/22), AD 18-49 (8.8/22) and AD25-54 (9.4/22).

Tuesday

�Commander In Chief� (9:00-10:01 p.m.)

Building its lead-in and growing its audience throughout its telecast, ABC�s �Commander In Chief� stood as the most-watched show in its time period, outpacing Fox�s �House� (14.8 million vs. 14.2 million). It has been the most-watched regular show in it time period on each of its telecasts. The freshman ABC drama took second place in its time slot among Adults 25-54 (5.4/12).

� �Commander In Chief� was up from the prior week across a broad range of demographic categories, including Total Viewers (14.8 million vs. 14.6 million), Adults 25-54 (5.4/12 vs. 5.3/11), Men 25-54 (4.1/9 vs. 4.0/9), Women 25-54 (6.6/13 vs. 6.5/13), Teens 12-17 (1.1/3 vs. 1.0/3) and Kids 2-11 (0.9/4 vs. 0.8/3).

� The drama delivered strong tune-in for ABC in the 9:00 p.m. hour, surging from its lead-in by 7.3 million viewers (14.8 million vs. 7.5 million) and by 46% in Adults 18-49 (3.8/9 vs. 2.6/7). From start to finish, �Commander In Chief� gained nearly 1 million viewers (14.3 million to 15.2 million) and 8% among Adults 18-49 (3.6/9 to 3.9/9).

�Boston Legal� (10:01-11:00 p.m.)

Taking second place in its hour to time period veteran NBC�s �Law & Order: SVU,� ABC�s �Boston Legal� topped the final hour of CBS� extended 2-hour edition of �Amazing Race 8� among Total Viewers (11.8 million vs. 10.6 million).

� �Boston Legal� was up from the prior week in Total Viewers (11.8 million vs. 11.2 million) and Adults 18-49 (3.5/9 vs. 3.4/9). In viewers and young adults, the show delivered its second-strongest performance of the season. The ABC sophomore drama hit a season high among Adults 18-34 (2.5/7).

Wednesday

ABC won Wednesday night across the adult demos (AD18-34 � 4.2/12, AD18-49 � 5.1/13 and AD25-54 � 6.0/14). In the key Adult 18-49 sales demographic, ABC defeated second-place CBS on the night -- which delivered above average numbers from a crossover �C.S.I.� episode at 10:00 p.m. -- by 13% (5.1/13 vs. 4.5/12).

� Through the first complete week of the 2005 November Sweep, ABC is up by 1.3 million viewers (12.0 million vs. 10.7 million) and by 10% among Adults 18-49 (4.5/12 vs. 4.1/11).

�George Lopez� (8:00-8:30 p.m.)

ABC�s �George Lopez� earned second place at 8:00 p.m. among Adults 18-49, defeating its CBS comedy competition in the half-hour (�Still Standing�) in Total Viewers (7.9 million vs. 7.8 million) and Adults 18-49 (2.8/8 vs. 2.3/7).

�Freddie� (8:30-9:00 p.m.)

ABC�s �Freddie� moved up into the No. 1 position at 8:30 p.m., leading its half-hour by 21% in Adults 18-49 (3.5/9 vs. 2.9/8 � CBS and NBC tied). In the time period, ABC�s �Freddie� overshadowed the season opener of Fox�s comedy, �Stacked,� by 3.4 million viewers (8.4 million vs. 5.0 million) and by 59% in Adults 18-49 (3.5/9 vs. 2.2/6).

� For the fifth week in a row (on all 5 of its telecasts), �Freddie� built on its �George Lopez� lead-in across each of the key adult demos: AD18-34 (2.8/8 vs. 2.1/7), AD18-49 (3.5/9 vs. 2.8/8) and AD25-54 (3.9/9 vs. 3.3/9).

�Lost� (9:00-10:00 p.m.)

On its first original telecast since October 19, ABC�s �Lost� dominated its 9 o�clock hour. �Lost� led its nearest competition in the time period (CBS� �Criminal Minds�) by nearly 5 million viewers (20.0 million vs. 15.1 million) and by 93% in Adults 18-49 (8.3/20 vs. 4.3/11).

� ABC�s �Lost� stood as the No. 1 TV show on Wednesday night in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49. It has been the top show of the evening on all 6 of its original telecasts this season.

�Invasion� (10:00-11:00 p.m.)

Opposite a highly promoted, and high-rated crossover episode between CBS� �C.S.I.: NY� and �C.S.I.: Miami,� ABC�s �Invasion� beat NBC�s time period veteran, �Law & Order,� in each of the adult demos: AD18-34 (3.3/10 vs. 2.8/8), AD18-49 (3.9/10 vs. 3.6/9) and AD25-54 (4.7/11 vs. 4.5/11).

� �Invasion� was up from its most recent original telecast (10/26/05) among Total Viewers (9.8 million vs. 8.7 million) and Adults 18-49 (3.9/10 vs. 3.7/9).

Friday

ABC took second place on Friday among Adults 18-49 (2.6/8), besting third-place NBC by 18% (2.2/7) and fourth-place Fox by 73% (1.5/5).

� Delivering its second consecutive week of growth on the night, ABC posted its strongest Friday performance of the season among Total Viewers (7.3 million) and Adults 18-49 (2.6/8).

�Supernanny� (8:00-9:00 p.m.)

ABC�s �Supernanny� earned second place in its hour among Adults 18-49 (2.6/8), while holding the No. 1 position in its time period among Women 18-34 (2.8/10).

� In Total Viewers (7.3 million) and Adults 18-49 (2.6/8), �Supernanny� marked its best-ever performance in its Friday time period.

�Hope & Faith� (9:00-9:30 p.m.)

�Hope & Faith� took second-place in its half-hour among Adults 18-49 and ranked as the top comedy on Friday in viewers (6.9 million) and young adults (2.6/8).

� With its second week of increases, �Hope & Faith� generated its second-biggest audience this season. The ABC comedy tallied its highest Adult 18-49 number in 9 months � since 2/18/05.

�Hot Properties� (9:30-10:00 p.m.)

Continuing to deliver solid lead-in retention, ABC�s �Hot Properties� earned second place in the 9:30 p.m. half-hour among Adults 18-49 (2.3/7).

� �Hot Properties� was up week to week in both Total Viewers (6.3 million vs. 5.8 million) and Adults 18-49 (2.3/7 vs. 2.2/7).

�20/20� (10:00-11:00 p.m.)

ABC News� �20/20� held second-place in the 10 o�clock hour among Adults 18-49 (2.6/8-tie) and Adults 25-54 (3.3/9).

Sunday

For the 8th week in a row, ABC stood as the No. 1 network on Sunday evening among Total Viewers and Adults 18-49. During prime, ABC bested its closest competition on the night by 3.1 million viewers (18.0 million vs. 14.9 million - CBS) and by 40% in Adults 18-49 (7.4/18 vs. 5.3/13 - Fox). ABC�s margin of victory among young adults is even more noteworthy, given that Fox had an NFL football overrun during the first hour of primetime.

� ABC aired the Top 3 television shows on Sunday in viewers and Adults 18-49, with �Desperate Housewives,� �Grey�s Anatomy� and �Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,� respectively. In addition, the 2 most-watched shows of the night were �Housewives� and �Grey�s�

�America�s Funniest Home Videos� (7:00-8:00 p.m.)

Facing Fox�s NFL football overrun from 7:00-8:00 p.m., �America�s Funniest Home Videos� was again the top non-sports show in its hour among Adults 18-49 (3.0/8).

�Extreme Makeover: Home Edition� (8:00-9:00 p.m.)

Delivering strong increases from its lead-in and throughout its telecast, ABC�s �Extreme Makeover: Home Edition� posted a dominant victory in its hour among Adults 18-49. �Home Edition� bested second-place Fox by 42% in the key young adults sales demographic (6.8/16 vs. 4.8/11). With its broad demographic appeal, the ABC unscripted show also won its hour among Adults 25-54 (7.8/16) and Kids 2-11 (4.4/14).

�Desperate Housewives� (9:00-10:01 p.m.)

The No. 1 show on Sunday, ABC�s �Desperate Housewives� led the 9 o�clock hour by wide margins among viewers and young adults. The ABC sophomore series outdistanced its nearest competition by 11.7 million viewers (25.9 million vs. 14.2 million � CBS� �Category 7: The End of the World� Part 2) and by 150% in Adults 18-49 (11.0/23 vs. 4.4/9 � Fox�s comedies).

� �Desperate Housewives� was up from the prior week by 2.0 million viewers (25.9 million vs. 23.9 million) and by 8% among Adults 18-49 (11.0/23 vs. 10.2/22). The show attracted its largest audience in 5 weeks � since its third telecast of the season, on 10/2/05.

�Grey�s Anatomy� (10:01-11:00 p.m.)

Continuing to exhibit its strongest retention of its �Desperate Housewives� lead-in, �Grey�s Anatomy� dominated the 10 o�clock hour. The ABC sophomore outdrew its closest competitor by 6.2 million viewers (19.7 million vs. 13.5 million � CBS� �Category 7�) and beat the combined delivery of CBS and NBC in the time period by 14% (8.9/21 vs. 7.8/18 � CBS and NBC combined)

� �Grey�s Anatomy� generated its largest audience and top Adult 18-49 rating of the season. On both Nielsen measures it was the series� second-strongest performance ever. The show matched its highest rating ever among Men 18-34 (5.8/16).
