"60 MINUTES" MAKES THE TOP 10 WITH ITS BEST DEMOGRAPHIC DELIVERY IN OVER A YEAR
Number-one newsmagazine 60 MINUTES made Nielsen's top-10 list by delivering its best audience in key demographics in over a year last Sunday (14). 60 MINUTES, posting an 11.2/16 with 17.47m viewers, was also the night's most watched non-sports program, finishing ahead of the special two-hour premiere of "24" on Fox and an episode of the ABC hit "Desperate Housewives."
The broadcast finished at #6 in viewers and #5 in households to make the weekly top-10 list for the fifth time this season. In adults 25-54, 60 MINUTES (6.0/12) had it best delivery since Jan. 8, 2006 and best adults 18-49 (4.9/11) delivery since Dec. 11, 2005.
Sunday's 60 MINUTES featured two exclusive interviews centered on arguably the week's two biggest news stories. To lead the broadcast, President Bush spoke to Scott Pelley in his first interview since addressing the nation about a troop increase in Iraq. Lesley Stahl followed with a double-length segment in which she interviewed the Duke case prosecutor's DNA expert and the parents of the lacrosse players accused of sexual assault. That story topped the news last week when the prosecutor recused himself from the case.
