Cable Ratings Round-Up (Week of January 22-28): 'Battlestar' Climbs, 'Dirt' Sinks
By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- Sci Fi got some good news on Sunday as both "The Dresden Files" and "Battlestar Galactica" added viewers in their second weeks while FX saw its newcomer "Dirt" fall to a series low.

"Dresden" and "Galactica" drew a 1.48 and 1.51 household rating respectively, up from their Sunday launches last week (1.37 and 1.39). Among adults 18-49 though, each took modest dips (848,000 vs. 882,000 for "Dresden," 1,235,000 vs. 1,255,000 for "Galactica").

As for "Dirt," the FX drama saw a series-low 1.7 million viewers tune into its January 23 installment, less than half of its January 2 launch (3.7 million).

Over on USA, Friday entries "Monk" (5.3 million, #3 for the week) and "Psych" (3.7 million, #8 for the week) remained in the top 10 despite declines from their winter premieres last week (5.2 million and 3.8 million respectively).

Leading the charge for the cable channel however was "WWE Raw" as both of its hours (5.5 million and 5.7 million) took the top two spots for the week of January 22-28.

Also of note last week: Sunday's "Screen Actors Guild Awards" drew a combined 5.9 million viewers (3.4 million on TNT, 2.5 million on TBS), its largest audience since NBC's final broadcast of the ceremony in 1997.

And finally, MTV's "Engaged & Underage" opened with 1.7 million viewers on January 22 - up slightly from the launch of Jennifer Lopez's "Dancelife" (1.6 million on 1/15/07) but well shy of "The Hills'" second season bow (2.5 million on 1/15/07) - while VH1's "I Love New York" continued to perform well with 3.5 million viewers (#12 for the week) tuning into its latest episode.
