With another strong turnout for "October Road," ABC posted a definitive Thursday night win, beating second-place CBS during prime by 4.4 million viewers (14.9 million vs. 10.5 million) and by 44% in Adults 18-49 (5.6/16 vs. 3.9/11). With NCAA basketball tournament coverage on during prime, CBS' averages are based on Nielsen's preliminary time period "fast affiliate ratings."
"Ugly Betty" (8:00-9:00 p.m.)
Beating competition in the time period including Fox's "Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?" and CBS' NCAA basketball tournament coverage, ABC's freshman "Ugly Betty" ranked No. 1 in the 8 o'clock hour among Total Viewers (10.5 million) and across each of the key women demographics: W18-34 (4.8/15), W18-49 (5.0/14) and W25-54 (5.9/16). "Betty was up week to week with Women 18-34 (4.8/15 vs. 4.7/14).
� From its first half-hour to its second half-hour, "Ugly Betty" grew its audience by 1.4 million viewers (9.8 million to 11.2 million) and by 21% in Adults 18-49 (2.9/9 to 3.5/10).
"Grey's Anatomy" (9:00-10:00 p.m.)
The No. 1 TV program on Thursday among viewers and young adults, ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" overshadowed its competition at 9:00 p.m. "Grey's" outperformed second-place CBS in the hour, with its coverage of the NCAA basketball tournament, by 10.0 million viewers (21.9 million vs. 11.9 million) and by 107% in Adults 18-49 (8.7/22 vs. 4.2/11).
"October Road" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)
For the second week in a row, ABC's "October Road" won Thursday's 10 o'clock hour. Versus its drama competition in the time period, "October Road" outdelivered NBC's "Raines" by 3.7 million viewers (12.3 million vs. 8.6 million) and by 96% in Adults 18-49 (4.9/14 vs. 2.5/7).
� On average in its two airings, "October Road" is improving its time period by 42% in Total Viewers (13.1 million vs. 9.2 million) and by 56% in Adults 18-49 (5.3/15 vs. 3.4/9), over ABC's average this season with regular programming in the hour.
