BURBANK, Calif. � January 3, 2008 � For the second week in a row, NBC ranked #1 in primetime's key demographic of adults 18-49, averaging a 2.7 rating, 8 share in adults 18-49 and 8.2 million viewers overall for the week of December 24-30, according to in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

In addition to its weekly win in adults 18-49, NBC also ranked #1 for the week in adults 18-34 and adults 25-54, women 18-49 and women 25-54 (tied with CBS) and all key adult-male demographics � men 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54.

"NBC Sunday Night Football," featuring the Tennessee Titans versus the Indianapolis Colts, was the #1 program of the week among adults 18-49 (5.9/15), adults 25-54 (6.6/16), adults 18-34 (4.8/15), total viewers (15.8 million) and all key adult-male demographics � men 18-34, men 18-49 and men 25-54. On a season-to-date basis, "NBC Sunday Night Football" is the #1 program on television among men 18-49 and men 25-54 and ranks #5 among all primetime network programs in adults 18-49.

NBC's simulcast of Saturday's NFL Network coverage of the New England Patriots-New Giants game ranked #3 for the week in adults 18-49 and total viewers.

Through the first 14 weeks of the 2007-08 season, NBC's median age has grown 1.1 years younger, moving to 46.1 years this season from 47.2 years at this point last season. In this same comparison, ABC's median age has increased by 2.1 years (to 49.1 from 47.0) and CBS's median age has increased to 52.5 years from 52.0 at this point last season. Fox's median age has declined slightly from 44.8 years to 44.6 years, reflecting in part fewer hours of baseball on Fox's primetime schedule this season versus last.

Through 14 weeks of the 2007-08 season, the primetime ratings race in adults 18-49 is extraordinarily close, with one-tenth of a rating point separating the top three broadcast networks and only 0.3 of a rating point separating ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox. Season-to-date averages in adults 18-49 for the period September 24, 2007 through December 30, 2007 are ABC (3.4/9), CBS and NBC (3.3/9), Fox (3.1/8), Univision (1.5/4), CW (1.1/3) and Telemundo (0.4/1).

Primetime averages for the week of December 24-30 in adults 18-49 were NBC (2.7/8), CBS (2.3/7), Fox (2.2/7), ABC (1.6/5), Univision (1.4/4), CW (0.6/2) and Telemundo (0.4/1). In overall total viewers the weekly averages were CBS (8.6 million), NBC (8.2 million), Fox (6.1 million), ABC (5.2 million), Univision (3.2 million), CW (1.7 million) and Telemundo (0.9 million).

NBC highlights for the week of December 24-30:

* The "NBC's Sunday Night Football" telecast of the Tennessee Titans versus the Indianapolis Colts propelled NBC to a Sunday night win in virtually every key ratings measure, including adults, men and women 18-49, adults, men and women 25-54, and total viewers. This is NBC's 11th Sunday win through the NFL season in 18-49 (including one tie), up from nine Sunday wins at this point last year.

* On Monday, NBC's Christmas Eve telecast of the 1946 classic "It's a Wonderful Life" finished within a tenth of a rating point of the primetime lead in adults 18-49 and ranked #1 in adults 25-54.

* On Tuesday, a special Christmas Night edition of "Deal or No Deal" was the #1 telecast of the night on any broadcast network in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key measures. "Deal" grew by 52 percent in 18-49 rating and 51 percent in total viewers from its first to its fourth half-hour. .

* NBC won Tuesday night in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and total viewers. This marked the fourth consecutive Tuesday that NBC ranked #1 or tied for #1 in adults 18-49.

* On Wednesday, an encore telecast of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" dominated the final hour of primetime by all key measures, beating the ABC-CBS competition combined in all key adult demographics � adults 18-34, adults 18-49 and adults 25-54.

* On Friday, for the second week in a row, "Dateline NBC" topped ABC's "20/20" in head-to-head competition in the 10-11 p.m. hour, the ABC newsmagazine's regular time period, in all key ratings categories, including adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, as well as in total viewers. "Dateline" tied Fox's "Bruce Almighty" telecast as the #1 show on Friday night in adults 18-49.

* On Saturday, a simulcast of the NFL Network's coverage of the New England Patriots at the New York Giants scored NBC's top results for a Saturday night in nearly a year (since January 6, 2007).

Ratings reflect "live plus same day" data unless otherwise noted. Season-to-date figures are averages of "live plus seven day" data except for the two most recent weeks, which are "live plus same day."

On Monday, Dec. 24, NBC's Christmas Eve telecast of the 1946 movie classic "It's a Wonderful Life" averaged a 1.5 rating, 5 share in adults 18-49 and 4.5 million viewers overall from 8-11 p.m. ET. "It's a Wonderful Life" ranked #2 in adults 18-49, finishing within a tenth of a rating point of the lead, and #1 in adults 25-54. This was NBC's 23rd primetime run of "It's a Wonderful Life," directed by Frank Capra and starring Jimmy Stewart, since the movie came to broadcast network television in 1994

On Tuesday, Dec. 25 from 8-10 p.m. ET, a special Christmas Night edition of "Deal or No Deal" (2.6/8 in 18-49, 9.8 million viewers overall) was the #1 telecast of the night on any broadcast network in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key measures. "Deal" ranked #1 in its two-hour slot in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, total viewers and other measures.

"Deal" grew by 52 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 3.2/10 from a 2.1/7) and by 51 percent in total viewers (to 11.7 million from 7.8 million) from its first to its final half-hour.

Tuesday from 10-11 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (2.1/6 in 18-49, 7.6 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in adults 18-49 and #1 in total viewers.

NBC ranked #1 on Tuesday night in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and total viewers. This marks the fourth consecutive Tuesday that NBC has finished #1 or tied for #1 in adults 18-49.

On Wednesday, Dec. 26 from 8-9 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Most Outrageous Moments" (2.0/6 in 18-49, 6.8 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in adults 18-49 and other key measures. At 9 p.m., an encore telecast of "Law & Order: SVU" (2.0/6 in 18-49, 7.5 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in adults 18-49 and other key measures.

Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET, a second encore telecast of "Law & Order: SVU" (2.4/7 in 18-49, 8.7 million viewers overall) dominated its time period in all key ratings measures, including adults 18-49 and total viewers. "SVU" topped the ABC-CBS competition combined in adults 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54.

NBC ranked #2 on Wednesday in adults 18-49 and #1 in total viewers.

On Thursday, Dec. 27 at 8 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "My Name is Earl" averaged a 1.8/6 in 18-49 and 4.9 million viewers overall. At 8:30 p.m., a rebroadcast of "30 Rock" delivered a 1.7/5 in 18-49 and 4.1 million viewers overall, retaining 94 percent of its 18-49 lead-in from "Earl."

Thursday from 9-9:31 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "The Office" averaged a 1.9/5 in 18-49 and 3.9 million viewers overall. From 9:31-10:01 p.m., a rebroadcast of "Scrubs" delivered a 1.6/5 in 18-49 and 3.2 million viewers overall. And from 10:01-11 p.m., an encore telecast of "ER" averaged a 1.2/4 in 18-49 and 3.1 million viewers overall.

On Friday, Dec. 28 from 8-9 p.m. ET, "The Singing Bee" (1.7/6 in 18-49, 5.9 million viewers overall) increased 89 percent versus the prior week's 18-49 rating (1.7 vs. 0.9) and jumped 84 percent, or 2.4 million persons, in total viewers (to 5.9 million vs. 3.2 million). "The Singing Bee" was #2 in adults 18-49 and #1 among women 18-49 and 18-34. From its first to its second half-hour, "Singing Bee" grew by 20 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.8/6 from a 1.5/5).

Friday from 9-11 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" (1.9/6 in 18-49, 5.8 million viewers overall) tied for the #1 telecast of the night in adults 18-49 (with Fox's telecast of "Bruce Almighty"). From its first to its fourth half-hour, "Dateline" increased by 67 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.5/8 from a 1.5/5) and by 20 percent, or 1.1 million persons, in total viewers (to 6.4 million from 5.4 million).

On both Friday, Dec. 28 and Friday, Dec. 21, "Dateline" topped ABC's "20/20" in head-to-head competition in the 10-11 p.m. hour, the ABC newsmagazine's regular time period, in all key ratings categories, including adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, as well as in total viewers.

On Saturday, Dec. 29 a special Saturday telecast of NFL Football, featuring a simulcast of the NFL Network's coverage of the New England Patriots at the New York Giants, averaged a 4.7/13 in adults 18-49, 13.2 million viewers overall and a 7.7/13 household rating and share on NBC from 8:16-11:29 p.m. ET. This marks NBC's top results for a Saturday night since January 6, 2007 (Cowboys-Seahawks NFL playoff game). Also on Saturday, the game's pre-kickoff portion of the telecast on NBC from 8-8:16 p.m. ET averaged a 2.4/8 in adults 18-49, 8.0 million viewers overall and a 4.7/9 household rating and share

On Sunday, Dec. 30, "NBC Sunday Night Football," featuring the Tennessee Titans at the Indianapolis Colts, averaged a 5.9/15 in adults 18-49, 15.8 million viewers overall and a 9.7/16 household rating and share from 8:25-11:17 p.m. ET, winning the time period in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key ratings categories.

For the night (from 7:30-11 p.m.), NBC ranked #1 in adults 18-49 (averaging a 4.9/13) and total viewers (13.4 million), and also ranked #1 among adults 18-34, adults 25-54, women 18-49, women 25-54 and all key adult-male demographics � men 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54. In adults 18-49, NBC posted a 32 percent advantage in primetime over its nearest competitor (4.9 vs. a 3.7 for Fox). In total viewers, NBC's margin of victory in Sunday primetime was 26 percent, or more than 2.7 million persons (13.4 million vs. 10.6 million for CBS).

Also on Sunday, "Football Night in America 2" from 7:30-7:58 p.m. ET averaged a 1.8/5 in 18-49, 4.5 million viewers overall and a 3.0 rating, 5 share in households. "Football Night in America 3" from 7:58-8:16 p.m. delivered a 2.8/8 in 18-49, 7.7 million viewers overall and a 4.8/8 in households. From 8:16-8:25 p.m., "NBC Sunday Night Football Pre Kickoff" averaged a 3.7/11 in 18-49, 10.4 million viewers overall and a 6.3/11 in households. Note: "Football Night in America" from 7-7:30 p.m. ET was sustaining programming and does not figure in the nightly or weekly primetime averages.
