UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. � June 23, 2009 � With solid performances from "Dateline NBC, " the Monday-through Thursday editions of "I'm a Celebrity�Get Me Out of Here" and the debuting summer series "Merlin" on Sunday, NBC averaged a 1.3 rating, 4 share in adults 18-49 and 4.6 million viewers overall for the week of June 15-21, according to in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research. NBC ranked #3 for the week in adults 18-49 and #2 in adults 18-34.

This week, three of the four telecasts of "I'm a Celebrity�Get Me Out of Here" ranked among the top 20 programs of the week in adults 18-49, with the Monday and Thursday editions ranking #13 (tied) and the Tuesday telecast ranking #20 (tied). Monday's edition of "Dateline NBC" ranked #11 (tied) among all primetime programs this week in adults 18-49.

Primetime averages for the week of June 15-21 in adults 18-49 were Fox (1.7/6), CBS (1.4/5), NBC and Univision (1.3/4), ABC (1.1/4), Telemundo (0.5/2) and CW (0.3/1). In overall total viewers the weekly averages were CBS (7.0 million), Fox (4.7 million), NBC (4.6 million), ABC (3.7 million), Univision (3.3 million), Telemundo (1.1 million) and CW (1.0 million).

Through the first 39 weeks of the 2008-09 season, NBC is the only one of the major broadcast networks to decrease its median age versus the prior season. NBC is the "second youngest" of the major broadcast networks, with a median age of 47.8 years (versus 48.6 years at this point last season), 2.8 years "older" than Fox (45.0 years). By comparison, ABC's median age this season is 49.2 and CBS's median age is 54.2.

Season to date, NBC is running within 0.8 of a rating point of first place in primetime's key demographic of adults 18-49, versus a deficit of 1.3 points at this time last season.

NBC highlights for the week of June 15-21:

* NBC tied for #1 in 18-49 Sunday night, as the new series "Merlin" outperformed ABC's first-run two-part limited series "Impact" in every key ratings category � adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49, 25-54 and total viewers � in head-to-head competition in the 9 p.m. ET hour.

* On Friday, "Dateline NBC" was the night's #1 telecast in adults 18-49 and total viewers, winning its two-hour time period in 18-49 and most other key ratings categories. From its first half-hour to its fourth, "Dateline" increased by 50 percent in adult 18-49 rating and by 31 percent in total viewers.

* NBC was #1 in primetime Friday night in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and other key demos. This marks the third week in a row that NBC has won Friday night in adults 18-49.

* On Thursday, "I'm a Celebrity�Get Me Out of Here!" won its time period in adults 18-49 and was #1 or tied for #1 in all other key demographics. Through Thursday's telecast, "I'm a Celebrity" had won its slot with 5 of 11 telecasts in adults 18-49 and 6 of 11 in adults 18-34 (including one tie).

* On Tuesday, "I'm a Celebrity�Get Me Out of Here!" won the first hour of primetime in adults 18-49 and other key demos. Among adults 18-34, "I'm a Celebrity" was the top-rated show on the broadcast networks Tuesday night

* Also On Tuesday, an encore telecast of "Law & Order: SVU" won the final hour of primetime in adults 18-49, adults 18-34 and other key demos.

* On Monday, a two-hour "I'm a Celebrity�Get Me Out of Here!" increased from its first half-hour to its fourth by 25 percent in adults 18-49 and adults 18-34 and by 15 percent in total viewers.

Ratings reflect "live plus same day" data unless otherwise noted. Season-to-date figures are averages of "live plus seven day" data except for the two most recent weeks, which are "live plus same day."

Additional NBC highlights for the week of June 15-21:

On Monday June 15 from 8-10 p.m. ET, "I'm a Celebrity�Get Me Out of Here!" (1.8 rating, 5 share in adults 18-49, 5.0 million viewers overall) increased by 25 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 2.0 from a 1.6), by 25 percent in adults 18-34 (to a 1.5 from a 1.2), and by 15 percent in total viewers (5.3 million vs. 4.6 million) from its first half-hour to its fourth. "I'm a Celebrity" matched its 18-49 rating from the prior Thursday and Wednesday's telecasts and also NBC's 18-49 average for this time period in the May 2009 sweep.

Monday from 10-11 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" (1.9/5 in 18-49, 5.7 million viewers overall) finished within a tenth of a rating point of the time-period lead in adults 18-49 and 18-34. From its first half-hour to its second, "Dateline" increased by 6 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 1.9 from a 1.8) and by 7 percent in total viewers (to 5.9 million from 5.5 million) while the major network competition decreased from half-hour to half-hour in both categories.

On Tuesday, June 16 from 8-9 p.m. ET, "I'm a Celebrity�Get Me Out of Here!" (1.7/6 in 18-49, 4.7 million viewers overall) won its time period in adults 18-49 and other key demographics. Among adults 18-34, "I'm a Celebrity" was the top-rated broadcast network show of the night.

From its first half-hour to its second, "I'm a Celebrity" increased by 19 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 1.9 from a 1.6) and by 33 percent in adults 18-34 (1.6 vs. 1.2).

Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" averaged a 1.4/4 in 18-49 and 4.5 million viewers overall, ranking #2 (tied) among adults 18-49 in the hour.

Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET, a second rebroadcast of "Law & Order; SVU" (1.7/5 in 18-49, 5.6 million viewers overall) ranked #1 in the time period in adults 18-49, adults 18-34 and other key demos.

NBC ranked #2 in primetime Tuesday in adults 18-49, tied for #1 in adults 18-34 and won the night outright in women 18-34.

On Wednesday June 17 from 8-9 p.m. ET, "I'm a Celebrity�Get Me Out of Here!" (1.5/5 in 18-49, 4.1 million viewers overall) increased from its first to its second half-hour by 14 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 1.6 from a 1.4), 18 percent in adults 18-34 (1.3 vs. 1.1) and 13 percent in adults 25-54 (1.8 vs. 1.6) in a highly competitive time period that included Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance" and ABC's "Wipeout." "I'm a Celebrity" finished within 0.1 of a ratings point of its 18-49 rating for the Wednesday 8-9 p.m. hour one week earlier (a 1.6 on June 10 from 8-9 p.m.).

Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Law & Order" averaged a 1.0/3 in 18-49 and 3.7 million viewers overall. At 10 p.m., a second rebroadcast of "Law & Order" (1.4/4 in 18-49, 4.9 million viewers overall) built on its lead-in from the previous hour by 40 percent in adults 18-49 and 34 percent in total viewers, to rank #2 in the hour in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key measures.

On Thursday, June 18 from 8-9 p.m. ET, "I'm a Celebrity�Get Me Out of Here!" (1.8/7 in 18-49, 5.1 million viewers overall) won its time period in adults 18-49 and was #1 or tied for #1 in all key demographics. Through this Thursday telecast, "I'm a Celebrity" has won its slot with 5 of 11 telecasts in adults 18-49 and 6 of 11 in adults 18-34 (including one tie). "I'm a Celebrity�Get Me Out of Here!" increased from half-hour to half-hour by 6 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 1.8 rating from a 1.7 rating) and increased 15 percent among women 18-49 (to a 2.3 from a 2.0). Versus NBC's performance in this time period on the same night last year, "I'm a Celebrity" was up 50 percent in 18-49 rating (1.8 vs. 1.2).

Thursday's "I'm a Celebrity�Get Me Out of Here" matched the show's highest 18-49 rating since Monday, June 8, six episodes ago. In total viewers, it was the biggest "I'm a Celebrity" audience since the prior Thursday, June 11. Versus the show's results the prior night, Thursday's "I'm a Celebrity" was up 20 percent in adults 18-49 (1.8 vs. 1.5) and 25 percent in total viewers (5.1 million vs. 4.1 million).

Thursday at 9 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "The Office" delivered a 1.3/4 in 18-49 and 3.3 million viewers overall, ranking #2 among the broadcast networks in adults 18-34, men 18-34 and men 18-49. At 9:31 p.m., an encore telecast of "30 Rock" averaged a 1.0/3 in 18-49 and 2.7 million viewers overall.

Thursday from 10:01-11 p.m. ET, "The Listener" (0.9/3 in 18-49, 3.8 million viewers overall) ranked #2 among the broadcast networks in adults 18-49, total viewers and all other key ratings categories.

On Friday, June 19 from 8-9 p.m. ET, "Chopping Block" averaged a 0.6/2 in 18-49 and 2.0 million viewers overall.

Friday from 9-11 p.m. ET, "Dateline NBC" (1.3/4 in 18-49, 5.6 million viewers overall) was the night's #1 telecast in adults 18-49 and total viewers, winning its two-hour time period in adults 18-49 and most other key ratings categories. From its first half-hour to its fourth, "Dateline" increased by 50 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 1.5/5 from a 1.0/4) and by 31 percent or more than 1.4 million persons in total viewers (to 6.1 million from 4.7 million). In the 10:30-11 p.m. lead-in tot local news, "Dateline" generated a 40 percent margin of victory in adults 25-54 (with a 2.1 rating vs. a 1.5 for ABC's "20/20" in second place).

NBC ranked #1 in primetime Friday night in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and other key demos. This marks the third week in a row that NBC won Friday night in adults 18-49.

On Saturday, June 20 at 9 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Law & Order" (0.7/3 in 18-49, 3.6 million viewers overall) built by 75 percent in 18-49 rating and 107 percent in total viewers on its lead-in from the previous hour � a 0.4/2 and 1.7 million viewers overall for "Kings" from 8-9 p.m.

Saturday at 10 p.m. ET, a rebroadcast of "Law & Order: SVU" (0.9/3 in 18-49, 4.3 million viewers overall) ranked #2 among the broadcast networks in adults 18-49 and #1 in adults, men and women 18-34 and men 25-54 (tie).

On Sunday, June 21, NBC Sports' coverage of Golf's U.S. Open Championship from 7-8:09 p.m. ET averaged a 2.0/8 in adults 18-49 and 7.5 million viewers overall. Golf coverage finished #1 for the time period in most key demographics, including adults 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54.

Sunday from 8:09-9:09 p.m. ET, the debut of "Merlin" (1.3/4 in 18-49, 5.2 million viewers overall) finished #2 in the time period and within a share of first place in adults 18-49. From 9:09-10:09 p.m., a second telecast of "Merlin" (1.4/4 in 18-49, 5.3 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in adults 18-49, total viewers and most other key ratings categories.

In the 9-10 p.m. hour, "Merlin" outperformed ABC's first-run two-part limited series "Impact" in all key ratings categories � adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49, 25-54 and total viewers. "Merlin's" full-duration results also topped "Impact's" full-duration averages in 18-49, total viewers and virtually all other key ratings categories.

Sunday from 10:09-11 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Law & Order; SVU" averaged a 1.1/3 in 18-49 and 3.9 million viewers overall.

NBC ranked #1 Sunday night in adults 18-49 (tie), adults 25-54, men 18-49 (tie) and men 25-54.
