WEEK No. 4:

During the week of October 11, 2010, ABC took second place among Total Viewers (8.8 million), while ranking No. 1 with key Women: W18-34 (2.5/8) and W18-49 (3.1/9-tie). The Net ranked No. 1 among Women 18-34 for the 4th time in 4 weeks this season.

Rankings: ABC's "Modern Family" stood as the No. 1 scripted TV show during the week for the 2nd week in a row in Adults 18-49, while "Grey's Anatomy" ranked as the week's No. 1 drama in young adults. ABC once again delivered more Top 10 TV shows than any other network, placing 4 of the weekly Top 10 in Adults 18-49: "Modern Family" - No. 3 (No. 1 scripted show), "Grey's Anatomy" - No. 5 (No. 1 drama), "Dancing with the Stars" - No. 9 (No. 1 unscripted series for the 4th consecutive week) and "Desperate Housewives" - No. 10. For the 4th straight week this season, ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" qualified as America's most-watched TV show overall.

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped up to 38% currently, from 33% at the same point in 2009. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.

Monday

ABC stood as the most-watched network on Monday night for the 4th week in a row. During prime, ABC bettered CBS by a 6.2 million viewers (16.6 million vs. 10.4 million) and by 3% in Adults 18-49 (3.6/8 vs. 3.5/9).
