ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" Turns in its Most-Watched Season in 4 Years

During the week of May 16, 2011, ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live grew its numbers over the year-ago week in Total Viewers, Adults 18-34 and Adults 18-49, standing as the only late-night entertainment broadcast program to score yearly increases in both Adult demos. Increasing its overall audience over the same week last year for the 10th consecutive week, JKL also posted the largest yearly increase of any late-night entertainment broadcast program in Total Viewers.
Building 4% over the prior week, JKL turned in its best performance in late-night in 4 weeks in Adults 18-49.
· For the 10th week in a row, JKL drew a larger weekly audience than CBS' The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.
· With its 2nd-largest margin of victory ever over TBS' Conan, ABC's JKL bested the TBS late-night program by 38% in Adults 18-49.

Growing 9% over the 2011 February Sweep, JKL registers as the only late-night entertainment broadcast program to see increases over the prior sweep.
· ABC's JKL is drawing a larger overall audience than NBC's Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, marking its 2nd May in a row to beat the NBC late-night program.
· For the 2nd time in the last 3 Sweep periods, ABC's JKL beat CBS' The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson in Total Viewers. In addition, JKL is outperforming Ferguson among Adults 18-49 for the third consecutive Sweep period.

During the week of May 16, 2011, ABC's "Nightline" ranked No. 1 among Total Viewers (4.204 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.405 million), according to Nielsen Media Research. "Nightline" extended its No. 1 rank in Total Viewers to 13 weeks in a row. In addition, the ABC late night program delivered its largest Adults 18-49 audience in 3 1/2 months (since the week of 1/31/11) and 3rd best of the season.
Season to date, "Nightline" ranks first in late-night among Total Viewers, Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49. This is the first time ever that "Nightline" has been in first place at this point in the season since at least the 1993-94 season, when "Letterman" began on CBS. In addition, "Nightline" is up by +5% in Total Viewers and by +4% in Adults 25-54 compared to the same point last year. Season to date "Nightline" is drawing its largest overall audience in 8 years - since the 2002-03 season.
For the 5th time in the last 6 weeks, "Nightline" was up over its performance on the same week last year across all key target demos: (+13%), Adults 25-54 (+5%) and Adults 18-49 (+7%). In fact, "Nightline" posted year-to-year increases in Total Viewers for the last 14 weeks and in Adults 25-54 for the previous 10 weeks. Further, the ABC program stood as the only late night program to grow year-to-year in all 3 target demos compared to its late night rivals, CBS' "The Late Show" (+1, -4% and -8%, respectively) and NBC's' "The Tonight Show" (-2%, -3% and -7%, respectively).

During the week of May 16, 2011, ABC grew its overall audience year to year in late-night by 7% in Total Viewers (2.402 million vs. 2.243 million), building over the same week last year for the 18th time in the last 20 weeks -- including the last 10 weeks. ABC was also the only broadcast network to build over the year-ago week (+7% - 916,000 vs. 854,000) in Adults 18-49 (CBS was down -5%; NBC was down -9%).
· Building 6% over the prior week in Adults 18-49 (865,000 on w/o 5/9/11), ABC turned in its best performance in late-night in 7 weeks - since w/o 3/28/11.
With just 3 nights remaining of the 2011 May Sweep, ABC is generating its largest audience in late-night for a May Sweep in 8 years, marking its 2nd-most-watched May ever. Building its overall audience year to year for the 5th Sweep period in a row, ABC is up over the year-ago May Sweep by 6% in Total Viewers (2.535 million vs. 2.390 million).
