Network Leads Best May Ever in Men 25-54 Delivery, DEADLIEST CATCH #1 in all of Cable in Key Demos
(Silver Spring, MD.) - Discovery Channel registered its best May ratings ever for Men 25-54 on the strength of cable's number one show, DEADLIEST CATCH, as well as strong performers in returning series AMERICAN CHOPPER, SWORDS, DUAL SURVIVAL and the series premiere season of SWAMP BROTHERS. Discovery's overall prime average increased 7% compared to year ago, posting +7% for Person 25-54 and +10% for Men 18-49.
For May 2011, Discovery's prime ranking was #5 for ad-supported cable among Persons and Men 25-54 and Men 18-49. Premieres of DEADLIEST CATCH in May have ranked #1 in all of cable across all key demos. Discovery also posted its best May Thursday among Men 25-54. In addition, the Discovery Channel special, KILLING BIN LADEN, was Sunday's #2 cable program among Men 25-54 and 18-49.
Premieres of DUAL SURVIVAL, SWAMP BROTHERS, TORNADO RAMPAGE 2011, WHEN ANIMALS BITE BACK and UNLEASHED: K9'S OF BROWARD COUNTY all earned double-digit gains in key Persons and Male demos, versus respective May 2010 time slot delivery. AMERICAN CHOPPER earned triple-digit gains in all respective demos.
June will be bursting out all over on Discovery with continuing premieres of favorites DEADLIEST CATCH on Tuesdays; MYTHBUSTERS on Wednesdays; SWORDS on Thursdays; DUAL SURVIVAL on Fridays and the world premiere special SURVIVING D-DAY on Saturday, June 4 at 9pm e/p.
