UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - June 9, 2011 - NBC's late-night lineup has generated #1 ratings for the week of May 30-June 3, as encore telecasts of "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" out-delivered CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman" rebroadcasts in all key ratings categories: adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, plus total viewers. Note that all Monday ratings are excluded from these averages due to the Memorial Day holiday and NBC's Wednesday results are excluded due to an NHL overrun. Tuesday and Thursday ABC programs were delayed by NBA overruns but are included in the weekly averages.
At 12:35 a.m. ET, encores of "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" delivered bigger audiences than CBS's first-run "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" in all key categories.
So far during the 2010-11 television season versus the first 37 weeks of last season, "Tonight" is up by 15 percent in total viewers (3.867 million vs. 3.356 million), while "Late Show" is down 9 percent (3.531 million vs. 3.873 million). At 12:35 a.m. ET, Jimmy Fallon is up 13 percent versus his year-ago pace in total viewers (1.768 million vs. 1.558 million), while "Late Late Show" is down 7 percent (1.745 million vs. 1.867 million).
At 1:35 a.m. ET, "Last Call with Carson Daly" is up so far this season versus one year ago by 5 percent in 18-49 viewers (495,000 vs. 472,000) and up 14 percent in total viewers (988,000 vs. 864,000). For the week of May 30-June 3, encore telecasts of "Last Call" out-rated originals of CBS's "Late Late Show" in adults 18-49 (0.4 vs. 0.3) and adults 18-34 (0.3 vs. 0.2), though "Last Call" airs an hour later than "Late Late Show."
Jay Leno has ranked #1 for 35 of 37 weeks this season versus "Late Show" in viewers 18-49 and total viewers. Jimmy Fallon has ranked #1 versus "Late Late Show" in viewers 18-49 for 37 of 37 weeks this season. In total viewers, Jimmy has out-delivered "Late Late Show" during 22 of the last 29 weeks.
