ESPN's 2011 NBA Draft Telecast Highest Rated Since 2007
ESPN's telecast of the 2011 NBA Draft Presented by Kia Motors generated a 2.5 overnight rating, according to Nielsen, the highest rating for the NBA Draft since 2007 (2.6 overnight rating) when Portland selected Greg Oden with the first pick and Seattle chose Kevin Durant second overall. The overnight rating for last night's Draft telecast (7:30 p.m.-12:15 a.m. ET) was up nine percent over last year's 2.3 overnight rating.
The top five metered markets for last night's Draft - Cleveland, 5.6 local rating; Salt Lake City, 5.0 rating; San Antonio and Indianapolis, 4.6 rating; and Chicago with a 3.9 rating.
The Draft capped off a 2010-11 campaign which included the second most-viewed NBA Finals since 2004 on ABC and the highest-rated and most-viewed NBA Finals Game 6 ever on the network; ESPN's most-viewed NBA postseason ever; the highest-rated and most-viewed regular season on ESPN and ABC; and the largest audiences ever for the NBA on Christmas Day.
