Cartoon Network's Monday Night Stood Out Across All of July 2011 as the #1 TV Destination for Boys 6-11, 2-11 and 9-14

Cartoon Network's Monday night (7-9 p.m.) stood out across all of July 2011 as the #1 TV destination for boys 6-11, 2-11 and 9-14. Earning delivery gains across the board vs. July last year, average kids 6-11 delivery (879,000) grew by 26%, kids 2-11 (1,163,000) grew by 9%, kids 9-14 (640,000) grew by 27%, boy 6-11 (666,000) grew by 35%, boys 2-11 (845,000) grew by 16% and boys 9-14 (484,000) grew by 34%. Cartoon Network original comedies The Amazing World of Gumball (7:30 p.m.), Adventure Time (8 p.m.), Regular Show (8:15) and MAD (8:30 p.m.) each ranked #1 in their timeslots on all television among boys 6-11, 2-11 and 9-14.

The Tuesday night line-up of animated comedies also ranked #1 for the night (7-9 p.m.) on all television across July 2011 among boys 6-11, 2-11 and 9-14. Scooby-Doo! Mystery, Inc. (7:30 p.m.), The Looney Tunes Show (8 p.m.) and The Amazing World of Gumball (8:30 p.m.) scored strong double-digit delivery gains across all kids and boys demos, ranging between 29% and 130%.

The one-hour premiere event of the new series, ThunderCats (Friday, July 29 at 8 p.m.), earned double-digit delivery growth over the prior year among kids and boys 6-11, 2-11 and 9-14 - average kids 6-11 delivery (635,000) grew by 22%, kids 2-11 (950,000) grew by 14% and kids 9-14 (484,000) grew by an impressive 98%.

Overall, Cartoon Network's July 2011 performance charted double-digit growth in Early Evening (7-9 p.m.) - kids 6-11 average delivery (614,000) up by 40%, kids 2-11 (887,000) up by 31% and kids 9-14 (413,000) up by 36%. Total Day (6 a.m.-9 p.m.) also showed double-digit growth - kids 6-11 delivery (468,000) up by 16%, kids 2-11 (690,000) up by 11% and kids 9-14 (327,000) up by 14%.

ADULT SWIM

Throughout July 2011, Adult Swim swept all young adult and young male demos on basic cable, ranking #1 for Total Day Delivery of adults and men 18-24, 18-34 and 18-49. Adults 18-24 average delivery (264,000) grew by 2%, men 18-24 (161,000) grew by 4%, adults 18-34 (494,000) grew by 3%, men 18-34 (294,000) grew by 2%, adults 18-49 (726,000) grew by 9% and men 18-49 (424,000) grew by 8%.

Childrens Hospital (Thursdays at 12 a.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among both adults and men 18-34 and 18-49.

Adult Swim programming accounted for 21 of the top 50 telecasts on basic cable for the month among adults 18-34 and men 18-34, both more than any other network.

TNT

TNT's summer originals kept things cooking in July as top-rated hits The Closer and Rizzoli & Isles accounted for basic cable's top six scripted programs for the month.

Last Monday's episode of The Closer averaged 7.6 million viewers in Live + 3 delivery (6.2 million Live + Same Day), with 2.1 million adults 18-49 (1.5 million L+SD) and 2.8 million adults 25-54 (2.1 million L+SD). Rizzoli & Isles followed with 7.9 million viewers in Live + 3 (6 million L+SD), edging out its lead-in with 2.1 million adults 18-49 (1.5 million L+SD) and 2.9 million adults 25-54 (2.1 million L+SD).

Falling Skies captured 4.3 million viewers Sunday night in Live + Same Day, with 2 million adults 18-49 and 2.3 million adults 25-54. Sunday night's episode of Leverage drew 3.4 million viewers in Live + Same Day, including 1.3 million adults 18-49 and 1.6 million adults 25-54.

Last Tuesday night's episode of Memphis Beat stirred up 4.1 million viewers in Live + 3 delivery (3.2 million Live + Same Day), including 1.2 million adults 18-49 (853,000 L+SD) and 1.4 million adults 25-54 (1 million L+SD). HawthoRNe followed with 2.8 million viewers in Live + 3 (2.2 million L+SD), with 961,000 adults 18-49 (731,000 L+SD) and 1.2 million adults 25-54 (1 million L+SD).

On Wednesday night, TNT's hit legal drama Franklin & Bash scored outstanding deliveries, with 3.8 million viewers in Live + 3 (2.8 million L+SD), with 1.7 million adults 18-49 (1.2 million L+SD) and 1.8 million adults 25-54 (1.3 million L+SD).

TNT's summer originals continue to deliver significant growth in time-shifted viewing. As reported yesterday, the blockbuster hit The Closer scored a massive audience of 9.3 million viewers in Live + 7 delivery for its July 11 season premiere. Rizzoli & Isles followed with a remarkable 8.6 million viewers in Live + 7. Both season premieres rank as basic cable's top scripted telecasts for the year-to-date and, combined with the June 19 series premiere of Falling Skies, mark the first time in basic cable history that three shows have premiered with at least 8.0 million viewers in the same year.

In other time-shifted viewing news, TNT's July 17 episode of Falling Skies rose to 6.4 million viewers, with 3 million adults 18-49 and 3.4 million adults 25-54. And the July 17 episode of Leverage grew to 5.4 million viewers, its largest audience since the December 2008 series premiere. It also averaged 2.1 million adults 18-49 and 2.5 million adults 25-54. The July 12 episode of Memphis Beat topped 4.1 million viewers in Live + 7, with 1.1 million adults 18-49 and 1.4 million adults 25-54. The same night's episode of HawthoRNe grew to 3.4 million viewers, with 1.3 million adults 18-49 and 1.4 million adults 25-54. The July 13 episode of Franklin & Bash scored 3.9 million viewers, with 1.8 million adults 18-49 and 1.8 million adults 25-54.

truTV

Last month was truTV's most-watched July ever in primetime delivery of two key demos: adults 18-34 (238,000) and men 18-34 (126,000). The network also displayed solid growth with these audiences, as deliveries of adults 18-34 increased 12%, while men 18-34 grew 9%.

During July, truTV was led by its hit series Hardcore Pawn. The program earned Top 5 cable entertainment time period rankings on Tuesday from 9-10 p.m. among adults 18-49 (1,098,000), as well as adults 18-34 (542,000), men 18-34 (318,000), men 18-49 (665,000) and total viewers (2,079,000).

World's Dumbest... earned Top 5 rankings in its Thursday timeslot among all keys demos, including 874,000 adults 18-49.

Operation Repo, a truTV favorite, was popular again in July. The Wednesday series snared 825,000 adults 18-49, as well as 1.7 million total viewers. Storage Hunters locked up 1.7 million total viewers on Tuesday and displayed solid time-period growth, including 58% with men 18-49. In July, truTV also premiered the new hit series South Beach Tow, which went on to average 1.6 million total viewers.

Finally, truTV's trend of attracting younger viewers continued in July. The network's primetime median age for the month was 44, two years younger than a year ago.

TBS

TBS's Emmy(R)-nominated late-night series CONAN enjoyed growth in July, especially among young adults. The show averaged 801,000 viewers in Live + Same Day, up 2% over its June premieres. Delivery of adults 18-34 was up 10% in July to 385,000, while adults 18-49 were up 8% to 589,000. CONAN's median age of 32 for July was the youngest among cable's late-night talk shows.
