NBC LATE-NIGHT RATINGS RESULTS FOR SEPT. 26-30
JAY TOPS THE HOUR'S ABC AND CBS COMPETITION IN 18-34 RATING AND TOTAL VIEWERS, TIES 'LATE SHOW' IN 18-49 RATING
THROUGH TWO WEEKS OF THE NEW SEASON, 'TONIGHT' HAS STRETCHED ITS MARGINS OVER 'LATE SHOW' VS. LAST YEAR IN VIEWERS 18-34, VIEWERS 25-54 AND TOTAL VIEWERS
SEASON TO DATE, JIMMY FALLON HAS INCREASED HIS LEADS OVER 'LATE LATE SHOW' IN 18-34 VIEWERS, 18-49 VIEWERS, 25-54 VIEWERS AND TOTAL VIEWERS
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - October 6, 2011 - NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" has averaged a 0.9 rating, 4 share in adults 18-49 and 3.5 million viewers overall for the week of September 26-30. In adults 18-34, "Tonight" out-rated CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman" and ABC's "Nightline" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live" for the week, posting a 0.6 rating in 18-34 versus "Late Show's" 0.5, "Nightline's" 0.5 and "Kimmel's" 0.3. "Tonight" also led ABC and CBS for the hour in total viewers. In adult 18-49 rating, "Tonight" tied "Late Show" (0.9 each) and led ABC's combination of "Nightline" (0.9) and "Kimmel" (0.5).
Through the first two weeks of the new television season, "Tonight" has increased its margins over "Late Show" versus one year ago in viewers 18-34 (to 19 percent from last year's 14 percent), viewers 25-54 (to 1 percent vs. a year-ago deficit of 1 percent) and total viewers (to 11 percent from 4 percent).
At 12:35 a.m. ET for the September 26-30 week, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" out-delivered CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" and ABC's "Kimmel" in nearly all key categories, including adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54 and total viewers.
This season versus last, Jimmy has increased his margins over "Late Late Show" in viewers 18-34 (to 52 percent from last year's 13 percent), viewers 18-49 (to 17 percent from 15 percent), viewers 25-54 (to 12 percent from 2 percent) and total viewers (to 13 percent from a year-ago deficit of 2 percent).
Through the first two weeks of the 2010-11 season, "Tonight's" margin over "Late Show" is 19 percent in viewers 18-34 (387,000 vs. 324,000), in viewers 25-54, the edge is 1 percent (1.412 million vs. 1.398 million) and in total viewers, the advantage is 11 percent (3.590 million vs. 3.247 million). At 12:35 a.m. ET, Jimmy Fallon leads "Late Late Show" by 52 percent in viewers 18-34 (288,000 vs. 190,000), 17 percent in viewers 18-49 (721,000 vs., 618,000), 12 percent in viewers 25-54 (866,000 vs. 776,000) and 13 percent in total viewers (1.706 million vs. 1.512 million).
At 1:35 a.m. ET, "Last Call with Carson Daly" earned a 0.4 rating in adults 18-49 and a 0.3 in adults 18-34, tying the 18-34 rating of "Kimmel" and "Late Late Show," though "Kimmel" starts 90 minutes earlier and "Late Late Show" starts an hour earlier.
