Across Q4 2011, Adult Swim Ranks As Basic Cable's #1 Network for Total Day Delivery of Adults 18-34 and Adults 18-49

Across Q4 2011, Adult Swim ranked as basic cable's #1 network for Total Day delivery of Adults 18-34 and Adults 18-49. The network also claimed the #1 ranking in December 2011 for adults and men 18-34 & 18-24, and #2 among adults and men 18-49 (behind ESPN).

New episodes of Family Guy (Monday, 11 p.m.) on Adult Swim earned significant delivery increases across the board - average adults 18-34 (1,261,000) grew by 8%, adults 18-49 (1,742,000) by 7% and adults 18-24 (711,000) by 12%. Additionally, new episodes of American Dad (Friday, 10 p.m.) scored double-digit delivery increases across all adult and men demos: adults 18-34 (576,000) increased by 79%, adults 18-49 (845,000) increased by 66% and adults 18-24 (315,000) increased by 86%.

Adult Swim presentations of Family Guy accounted for 24 of the top 50 December telecasts on basic cable among adults 18-34 (more than any other network), and 19 of the top 50 among men 18-34.

TBS

TBS is burning up the competition this winter, ranking as basic cable's #1 entertainment network in primetime delivery of adults 18-34 and adults 18-49 for the month of December, as well as the final week of the year.

TBS's annual 24 Hours of A CHRISTMAS STORY, which celebrated its 15th anniversary this year, delivered round-the-clock holiday cheer to homes on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The Sunday 10 a.m. telecast of the perennial favorite led the pack with 4.5 million viewers and ranks as the #1 movie on all of television for December with adults 18-34 and adults 18-49.

TBS's 24 Hours of A CHRISTMAS STORY opened Saturday at 8 p.m. with the first two telecasts of the movie bringing in 4.1 million viewers each. Overall, the marathon averaged 3 million viewers, with 833,000 adults 18-34 (+4% compared to 2010), and 1.6 million adults 18-49 (+2%). For the entire 24-hour period (Christmas Eve 8 p.m. - Christmas Day 8 p.m.), TBS ranked as basic cable's #1 network among viewers, adults 18-34 and adults 18-49.

The Big Bang Theory scored its biggest numbers yet since coming to TBS. Tuesday's 9:30 p.m. episode drew a remarkable 3.3 million viewers to rank as basic cable's #1 sitcom telecast for the week and the month. It was one of four episodes of the hit series last week that drew more than 3 million viewers. Overall, The Big Bang Theory on TBS averaged 2.7 million viewers in primetime last week and accounted for all of basic cable's Top 10 sitcom telecasts.

Two new episodes of Tyler Perry's For Better or Worse once again joined The Big Bang Theory on the list of basic cable's Top 20 sitcom telecasts for the week. The Friday night comedy averaged a solid 2 million viewers and 1 million adults 18-49 at 10 p.m. growing to 2.2 million viewers and 1.1 million adults 18-49 at 10:30 p.m.

Last week, TBS's Emmy(R)-nominated late-night series CONAN averaged more than 1 million viewers in Live + Same Day delivery, up an amazing 29% compared to the prior week. The show also scored 430,000 adults 18-34 (+23%) and 698,000 adults 18-49 (+29%). For the month of December, CONAN clocked remarkable double-digit growth, with viewers up 12%, adults 18-34 up 16% and adults 18-49 up 11% compared to November. The show's median age of 33 makes it the youngest of the late-night talk shows.

In time-shifted viewing, CONAN grew its audience for the week of Dec. 5 by 10% over Live + Same Day, for a final tally of 881,000 viewers. Meanwhile, adults 18-34 expanded by 14% to 416,000, while adults 18-49 grew by 12% to 642,000.

truTV

truTV closed out 2011 with an outstanding week as the network ranked among basic cable's Top 10 networks in primetime delivery of adults 18-49. The week - which included truTV's most-watched episode ever, as well as best-ever performances by several series - caps truTV's best year ever with adults 18-34, men 18-34 and men 18-49. It also closes out an exceptionally strong December, which saw truTV's deliveries grow by 5% among viewers, 23% among adults 18-34 and 14% among adults 18-49, compared to December 2010. This year also saw truTV score its youngest median age (43) ever.

truTV's hit show Hardcore Pawn struck gold Tuesday night, drawing an extraordinary 2.7 million viewers to rank as truTV's most-watched series telecast ever. Compared to all ad-supported cable programming in the 9 p.m. timeslot, Hardcore Pawn ranked a strong second place among adults 18-49 (1,355,000) and men 18-49 (796,000). It also ranked in third place for the timeslot among total viewers (2,704,000); adults 18-34 (635,000); and men 18-34 (256,000).

In addition to Hardcore Pawn's record-setting performance, Tuesday night featured a new benchmark for truTV's Storage Hunters. The show drew 2.1 million viewers, the most ever for the freshman series.

truTV's Full Throttle Saloon scored its biggest audience ever, with more than 1.9 million viewers and 1.1 million adults 18-49. The show also garnered Top 5 rankings among ad-supported programs in the 10 p.m. timeslot with adults 18-49, men 18-34 and men 18-49.

Also on Wednesday, truTV's Texas-set oil-drilling hit Black Gold brought in a solid 1.3 million viewers. Now in its fourth season, the show is demonstrating double-digit growth over season three, with total viewers up 22%, adults 18-49 up a whopping 37% and men 18-49 up 30%.

truTV's all-new series Impractical Jokers saw significant demo growth over its premiere week. Thursday night's episode of the highly buzzed-about show averaged more than 1.5 million viewers, with 929,000 adults 18-49 (+7% vs. series premiere) and 535,000 men 18-49 (+4%). Impractical Jokers ranked among ad-supported cable's Top 5 entertainment programs in its 10 p.m. timeslot with both demos, while also scoring a median age of 34.

TNT

TNT opened its coverage of the 2011-12 NBA regular season on Christmas Day with more than 5.9 million total viewers, a 3.4 U.S. HH Rating and 3.9 million households, marking the most-watched NBA regular-season game on Christmas ever on cable. The game was a two-point victory by the New York Knicks over the Boston Celtics and marked the official tip-off of the NBA regular season.

The Dec. 19 episodes of TNT's blockbuster dramas The Closer and Rizzoli & Isles dominated the charts last week as basic cable's top entertainment programs, while also scoring strong growth over the prior week. The Closer brought in 7.2 million viewers in Live + 3 (5.8 million viewers in Live + Same Day) and 2.2 million adults 25-54 (1.7 million L+SD). Rizzoli & Isles topped the list with 7.4 million viewers in Live + 3 (5.3 million viewers in Live + Same Day), up 8% over the previous week. Rizzoli & Isles also garnered 2.4 million adults 25-54 (1.6 million L+SD), up 5%.

In time-shifted viewing, The Closer's Dec. 5 episode scored a final tally of 6.9 million viewers and 2.5 million adults 25-54 in Live + 7, while the Dec. 5 episode of Rizzoli & Isles delivered 6.2 million viewers and 2.5 million adults 25-54.

On Christmas Day, a new episode of TNT's caper series Leverage captured 2 million viewers in Live + Same Day. The episode also averaged 902,000 adults 25-54. Meanwhile, time-shifted viewing has lifted the series' Dec. 11 episode to 3 million viewers and 1.5 million adults 25-54 in Live + 7.

Cartoon Network

Across December 2011, Cartoon Network's evening prime time (Monday-Sunday, 7-9 p.m.) posted significant double-digit ratings & delivery gains across all key kids demos vs. December last year - average kids 6-11 delivery (607,000) increased by 19% and ratings (2.5) also by 19%; kids 2-11 delivery (883,000) grew by 13% and ratings (2.1) by 11%; and kids 9-14 delivery (477,000) improved by 29% and ratings (2.0) by 33%. Total Day delivery also grew across all kids demos - average kids 6-11 (354,000) by 8%, kids 2-11 (550,000) by 5% and kids 9-14 (278,000) by 23%.

Cartoon Network's Monday night comedies (7-9 p.m.) ranked as the #1 destination on all broadcast & cable television among boys 6-11, 2-11 and 9-14. Compared to the previous year's time period, average kids 6-11 delivery (836,000) grew by 33%, kids 2-11 (1,127,000) by 22%, kids 9-14 (697,000) by 54%, boys 6-11 (626,000) by 35%, boys 2-11 (812,000) by 26% and boys 9-14 (553,000) by 67%.

Original animated comedy Adventure Time (Monday, 8 p.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among boys 6-11, 2-11 and 9-14 throughout December. Adventure Time's half-hour holiday-themed special "Holly Jolly Secrets" (Monday, Dec. 5, 8 p.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among boys 6-11, and earned double & triple-digit delivery increases across the board compared to the same time period in 2010.

Cartoon Network reigned as the #1 TV network for boy demos (6-11, 2-11, 9-14) on Monday and Saturday nights (7-9 p.m.), and earned the #1 destination for boys 6-11 & 9-14 on Wednesday and Thursday nights (7-9 p.m.).
