"GHOST HUNTERS" RATINGS HIT SEASON-HIGHS
NEW YORK - February 16, 2012 - Last night, Ghost Hunters' winter finale episode, airing from 9-10pm ET/PT on Syfy, scored season highs in both Adults 18-49 (1.1 million) and Adults 25-54s (1.2 million). It was the series' best performance among Adults 18-49 since 10/5/11 and among Adults 25-54 since 10/27/10; it also reflected double-digit growth in both demos compared to the prior finale episode on 12/7/11 (up +36% and 33%, respectively).
The ratings broke the biggest news in the show's history: co-lead investigator Grant Wilson will be departing the series. The highly-anticipated announcement also drew 2.2 million total viewers, making it the most-watched episode of Ghost Hunters in total viewers since 10/20/10.
At 10pm, hit reality series Face Off saw continued success, delivering over 2 million total viewers for the third week in a row (2.04 million).
Syfy was a top primetime cable network among the key demos on Wednesday night, ranking #4 among both Adults 18-49s and Adults 25-54s.
Next Wednesday, Ghost Hunters International returns at 9pm ET/PT for seven all-new episodes, kicking off with an investigation deep below an ancient Peruvian temple. Grant Wilson's last six Ghost Hunters episodes will premiere in April, culminating in his final farewell on May 16 @ 9pm.
LeVar Burton (Star Trek: The Next Generation) makes a special appearance in an all-new episode of Face Off, airing Wednesday, February 22 at 10pm ET/PT on Syfy. In the episode, the contestants learn that for their Spotlight Challenge they will be working with a client, none other than creature designer, director and series judge, Patrick Tatopoulos. Host McKenzie Westmore unveils to the contestants four different concept sketches that Patrick created. Each of the artists must select one of the sketches to serve as the inspiration for an original alien creation. On the Face Off reveal stage, the contestants are elated to see guest judge Levar Burton (Star Trek: The Next Generation) but quickly grow concerned when they learn that two artists will be sent packing this week.
Ghost Hunters and Ghost Hunters International are produced in association with Craig Piligian's Pilgrim Films and Television (Dirty Jobs, The Ultimate Fighter, My Fair Wedding). Piligian and Thomas Thayer, along with Mike Nichols and Alan David, serve as executive producers.
