CBS Leads Adults 18-49 for Fourth Straight Week, Adults 25-54 for Fifth
The NCAA BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP, along with strong performances by scripted shows such as PERSON OF INTEREST and THE BIG BANG THEORY, led CBS to yet another weekly win in viewers, adults 18-49 and adults 25-54, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending April 8, Week 29 of the 2011-2012 television season.
CBS NCAA BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP "Kansas vs. Kentucky" was the week's #1 program in viewers, adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and adults 18-34. PERSON OF INTEREST was the week's #1 scripted program in viewers, tied with CRIMINAL MINDS as top drama in adults 18-49. PERSON OF INTEREST, THE MENTALIST and CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION were the week's top dramas.
In addition, THE BIG BANG THEORY, RULES OF ENGAGEMENT, TWO AND A HALF MEN 8:30 PM (R) (S) and TWO BROKE GIRLS 8:00 PM (R) (S) were the week's top comedies. THE BIG BANG THEORY was the week's top scripted program in adults 25-54, adults 18-49 and adults 18-34.
For the week in viewers: CBS (10.26m), ABC (7.72m), FOX (6.64m) and NBC (5.03m). Season-to-date, CBS (11.98m) leads FOX (8.96m), ABC (8.29m) and NBC (7.59m) in viewers.
For the week in key demographics, CBS was first in both adults 25-54 (3.2/08) and adults 18-49 (2.5/08). CBS was first in adults 25-54 for the fifth consecutive week and first in adults 18-49 for the fourth straight week.
For the week in households: CBS (6.4/11), ABC (5.0/09), FOX (4.0/07) and NBC (3.2/05). Season-to-date: CBS (7.5/12) leads both ABC and FOX (5.3/09 each) and NBC (4.6/08).
Season-to-date, CBS is first in adults 25-54 (4.0/10) and second adults 18-49 (3.1/08, -0.1 behind FOX). Season-to-date, CBS is up +4% in households, +1% in viewers, +3% in both adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 compared to last year.

PRELUDE TO A CHAMPIONSHIP (S) (9:00-9:16 PM) delivered a 7.1/11 in households with 11.47m viewers and 4.2/10 in adults 25-54, 3.6/10 in adults 18-49, 2.8/09 in adults 18-34, 5.4/14 in men 25-54, 4.6/13 in men 18-49 and 3.4/12 in men 18-34.
NCAA BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME "Kansas vs. Kentucky" (S) (9:15-11:36 PM) posted a 12.3/19 in households with 20.87m viewers, 7.9/19 in adults 25-54, 7.6/20 in adults 18-49, 6.8/20 in adults 18-34, 10.2/25 in men 25-54, 10.1/27 in men 18-49 and 9.0/28 in men 18-34. CBS led the 9:00-11:00 PM time period in households, viewers and key adult and male demos. Compared to the same event last year ("Butler vs. UConn"), CBS was up +5% in households, +7% in both adults 25-54 and adults 18-49, +6% in men 25-54 and +4% in men 18-49. Nielsen Media Research reports that 42.9m viewers watched all or part of Monday's game.
NCIS (R) was first in households (7.4/12), viewers (11.45m), tied for first in adults 25-54 (2.6/07, with both NBC and ABC) and second in adults 18-49 (1.9/06, -0.1 behind NBC).
SURVIVOR: ONE WORLD was second in households (6.1/10), viewers (10.36m), adults 25-54 (3.9/10) and adults 18-49 (2.8/09). Compared to last week, SURVIVOR: ONE WORLD was up +3% in households (from 5.9/10) and added +370,000 viewers (from 9.99m, +4%).
CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION was first in households (7.7/13), viewers (12.06m), adults 25-54 (3.8/10) and adults 18-49 (2.9/08). Compared to the last first-run episode (on March 21, 2012), CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION was up +5% in households (from 7.3/12), +9% in adults 25-54 (from 3.5/09), +12% in adults 18-49 (from 2.6/07) and added +680,000 viewers (from 11.38m, +6%).
-- On Thursday, CBS was first in households (7.6/13), viewers (12.43m), tied for first in adults 18-49 (4.0/11, with FOX) and was a close second in adults 18-49 (3.0/29, -0.1 behind FOX).
THE BIG BANG THEORY (8:00-8:31 PM) was first in households (8.0/14), viewers (13.30m), adults 25-54 (5.7/17), adults 18-49 (4.4/15) and adults 18-34 (3.0/12). Featuring a guest appearance by famed physicist Stephen Hawking, THE BIG BANG THEORY was the night's #1 program in adults 25-54, adults 18-49 and adults 18-34.
PERSON OF INTEREST was first in households (8.3/14), viewers (13.69m), adults 25-54 (4.1/10) and adults 18-49 (3.0/08). PERSON OF INTEREST beat a first-run "Grey's Anatomy" for the first time ever in adults 18-49 (vs. 2.8/08, +7%) and by its largest margin ever in both viewers (vs. 8.19m, +67%) and adults 25-54 (vs. 3.5/09, +17%).
THE MENTALIST was first in households (7.8/13), viewers (12.59m), adults 25-54 (3.4/09) and adults 18-49 (2.4/07).
-- On Friday, CBS was first in households (5.9/11), viewers (9.27m), adults 25-54 (2.3/07) and adults 18-49 (1.7/06). CBS was first in every half-hour in households, viewers, adults 25-54 and adults 18-49. CBS won 28 of 29 Fridays this season in viewers.
UNDERCOVER BOSS was first in households (4.9/09), viewers (7.82m), adults 25-54 (2.5/08) and adults 18-49 (1.8/07). Compared to last week, UNDERCOVER BOSS was even in adults 18-49. UNDERCOVER BOSS was the night's #1 program in both adults 25-54 and adults 18-49.
CSI: NY was first in households (5.8/10), viewers (9.07m), adults 25-54 (2.2/06) and adults 18-49 (1.7/06). Compared to last week's spring premiere, CSI: NY was up +6% in adults 18-49 (from 1.6/05).

Compared to last week, BLUE BLOODS was up +3% in households (from 6.8/12), +6% in adults 18-49 (from 1.6/05), even in adults 25-54 and added +200,000 viewers (from 10.72m, +2%).
