ABC News Docuseries "NY Med" Grows its Audience Throughout the Hour on Tuesday Night
The third installment of ABC's "NY Med" delivered 4.33 million Total Viewers, 1.71 million Adults 25-54, and 1.37 million Adults 18-49 on July 24, 2012, according to Nielsen Media Research. "NY Med" built sharply on its lead-in, doubling its audience among both Total Viewers (+139%; +2.1 million) and Adults 25-54 (+100%; +83,000). In addition, the broadcast jumped 83% among Adults 18-49 (+66,000).
At 10 o'clock, "NY Med" continued to generate solid time-period gains for ABC, leaping over the year-ago night ("Combat Hospital" on 7/26/11) in Total Viewers (+13%), Adults 25-54 (+27%) and Adults 18-49 (+22%).
From 10:00-11:00 p.m., "NY Med" built by 7% in Total Viewers, by 7% in Adults 25-54 and by 10% in Adults 18-49 from its first half-hour to its second. In fact, the ABC News series grew its overall audience from start to finish for the 3rd week in a row, both CBS (-2%) and NBC (-13%) lost audience across the 10:00 p.m. hour.
For a full year ABC News cameras had unprecedented access to document the mayhem and the miracles that occur daily inside the walls of Columbia and Weill Cornell Medical Centers, the crown jewels of the prestigious New York-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City for an eight-part series "NY Med". Lutheran Medical Center also participated, adding a Brooklyn dimension to the series. The eight-part series takes a candid look at how cutting edge medicine often makes the difference, although even the best surgeons can find themselves flirting with disaster.
Terence Wrong is executive producer of "NY Med." Erica Baumgart and Chris Perera are supervising producers. Monica DelaRosa is series producer and Andy Genovese is the broadcast producer.
