During the week of August 27, 2012, ABC's 7th-season premiere of "Saturday Night Football" finished as the No. 1 TV show among Adults 18-49 and across all key Men demographics (M18-34/M18-49/M25-54). In fact, "Saturday Night Football" equaled its highest-rated-ever season opener in the key young adult sales demo. In addition, back-to-back installments of ABC's "20/20" on Friday ranked as the week's Top 2 newsmagazines in Adults 18-49, as the Net claimed the No. 1 newsmagazine for the 4th week running.
Monday
"Bachelor Pad" (8:00-10:01 p.m.)
ABC's "Bachelor Pad" drew its largest overall audience since its season premiere (4.4 million), while matching a best-since-premiere performance in Adults 18-49 (1.3/4) - since 7/23/12. In the 9 o'clock hour, "Bachelor Pad" outperformed NBC's "Stars Earn Stripes" by 1.1 million viewers (4.2 million vs. 3.1 million) and by 30% in Adults 18-49 (1.3/3 vs. 1.0/2).
Thursday
"Your Voice, Your Vote - 2012 Republican National Convention" Coverage (10:00-11:22 p.m.)
Building on its lead-in at 10:00 p.m., ABC News' "Your Voice, Your Vote - 2012 Republican National Convention" ranked No. 1 among the broadcast nets on Thursday, beating NBC's coverage by 13% in Total Viewers (4.4 million vs. 3.9 million), by 11% in Adults 18-49 (1.0/3 vs. 0.9/3) and by 8% in Adults 25-54 (1.3/3 vs. 1.2/3).
· Posting its biggest numbers of its 3-night RNC coverage, ABC News' "Your Voice, Your Vote - 2012 Republican National Convention" shot up over the previous night by 57% in Total Viewers, by 67% in Adults 18-49 and by 63% in Adults 25-54. Conversely, NBC was down night to night to hit its lowest numbers of its 3-night coverage.
Friday
With repeats of "Shark Tank" and back-to-back installments of "20/20," ABC stood as the most-watched network on Friday night (4.2 million), topping CBS by 5% (4.0 million), NBC by 40% (3.0 million) and Fox by 45% (2.9 million).
· ABC's replay "Shark Tank" qualified as the No. 1 TV program in Total Viewers in the 8 o'clock hour (3.9 million), beating its repeat unscripted competition on CBS by 5% ("Undercover Boss" = 3.7 million) and on NBC by 26% ("America's Got Talent" = 3.1 million).
· From 9:00-10:00 p.m., ABC's encore "20/20-FRIDAY" registered as the most-watched program (4.6 million), outdrawing replay dramas on CBS by 1.1 million viewers ("CSI: NY" = 3.5 million), on Fox by 1.7 million viewers ("Bones" = 3.7 million) and on NBC by 2.6 million ("Grimm" = 2.0 million).
· At 10:00 p.m., ABC's replay "20/20" outperformed its newsmagazine competition in the hour by double-digit margins among key Adults, beating NBC's "Dateline Classic" by 18% in Adults 25-54 (1.3/4 vs. 1.1/3) and by 13% in Adults 18-49 (0.9/3 vs. 0.8/3).
Saturday
The seventh season premiere of "Saturday Night Football" (Michigan vs. Alabama) made ABC the
No. 1 TV network on Saturday evening in Total Viewers (8.2 million) and Adults 18-49 (3.1/11), dominating Fox's coverage of college football (Hawaii at USC) by 6.4 million viewers and by 417% among young adults (1.8 million and 0.6/2 from 8:00-10:00 p.m.). In fact, ABC beat the other major networks combined (CBS, NBC, and Fox) by 72% in Adults 18-49 (3.1/11 vs. 1.8/6).
· ABC's "Saturday Night Football" easily qualified as Saturday's No. 1 TV show among Total Viewers (7.9 million) and Adults 18-49 (3.0/11). In fact, ABC claimed the most-watched program on Saturday for the 2nd week in a row.
· Growing over its year-ago season opener (Oregon vs. LSU on 9/3/11 = 2.7/10) by 11% with young Adults, ABC's "Saturday Night Football" delivered its best-ever premiere, tying its debut game on the Net in Fall 2006.
· In Adults 18-49, ABC matched its strongest Saturday in well over 1 year - since 5/7/11.
