Los Angeles - OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network continues its strong momentum scoring ratings highs over the weekend with its original primetime series premieres on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 15 and 16.
The premiere of the new original series "Iyanla: Fix My Life" with life coach Iyanla Vanzant (Saturday, Sept. 15 at 10 p.m.) scored 1.18 W25-54 rating and 1,136,000 million viewers ranking #2 in its time period in W25-54 among all ad-supported cable networks. The series posted triple digit growth (+808% W25-54, +952% total viewers) versus year ago numbers and built in the half hour, growing +5%. The premiere, which featured "Basketball Wives" star Evelyn Lozada, continued ratings momentum with part two (Sunday, Sept. 16 at 10 p.m.) scoring 1.73 W25-54 rating and 1,590,000 million total viewers, ranking #3 in its time period among ad-supported cable in W25-54 and W18-49, posting quadruple digit growth (+1231% W25-54, +1506% total viewers) versus year ago numbers. The Sunday episode also ranked #1 in the time slot across all broadcast and cable with African-American W25-54 (9.66) and W18-49 (9.12).
The return of popular original series "Welcome to Sweetie Pie's" (Saturday, Sept. 15 at 9 p.m.) hit an all-time series high with a .88 W25-54 rating and 932,000 total viewers posting triple digit growth versus year ago numbers (+450% W25-54, +521% total viewers) and built in the half hour +17%. The series ranked #4 in its time period among ad-supported cable W25-54 and #1 across all broadcast and cable in all key African-American demos (4.76 W25-54, 3.55 W18-49, and 766,000 total viewers). The premiere is up +91% W25-54 versus its season average and is up +319% versus its season one premiere last October.
"Oprah's Next Chapter" (Sunday, Sept. 16 at 9 p.m.) featuring Oprah Winfrey's exclusive interview with R&B artist Usher garnered 1.72 W25-54 rating and 1,520,000 million viewers ranking #3 in its time period in W25-54 and W18-49 among all ad-supported cable, posting quadruple and triple digit growth versus year ago numbers (+1333% W25-54, +827% total viewers). The series ranked #1 in the time period across all broadcast and cable in key African-American demos (8.94 W25-54, 8.05 W18-49).
OWN's inspirational Sunday morning series "Super Soul Sunday" featuring Winfrey's interviews with thought leaders also saw ratings highs over the weekend (Sept. 16 at 11 a.m.) posting a .31 W25-54 rating, its highest to date, up +158% over its season average.
With this solid ratings performance, OWN ranks among the Top 5 ad-supported cable networks on Saturday and Sunday night. Saturday primetime ranked #4 with a .80 W25-54 rating among ad-supported cable networks, and Sunday night ranked #3 among all ad-supported cable in W25-54 (1.41) and W18-49 (1.30). OWN's Saturday and Sunday primetime lineup ranked #1 among all broadcast and cable in African-American women demos (W25-54, W18-49).
The week of September 10th marked OWN's 35th consecutive week of total day year-over-year growth among W25-54 (+150%), nearly nine consecutive months. The week of September 10 matched OWN's best week ever in Total Day W25-54 and scored the network's best weekend ever.
Year-to-date, OWN is posting double digit growth in both primetime and total day across the network's key demos, with primetime posting +26% W25-54 and +21% in total viewers, and total day posting +36% W25-54 and +37% total viewers versus year ago numbers.
